Hello to everyone, and good morning to three girls in particular ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹

Today is a big day for me, as later I will finally resume full ownership of the cat after several months under a custody arrangement. Hopefully I haven't forgotten how to look after him

Happy cat day cob <3

Would you like to adopt Heathcliff? As is usual for our first night back home after a holiday, he kept me awake all night wanting attention. Every time I moved he was sat next to me meowing and hitting me in the face. At one point he even stuck his paw in my mouth :gross:

I was out, had a few drink but was still reasonable last night. Tonight, Iโ€™m going to a techno party called Toyz :eyes:

Tv license gift cards were once a thing?

Saturday - it's time for pickling.

I've already been topping, tailing and deskinning the teeny onions for forty minutes and I'm only a quarter of the way through. I remember now why I stopped making my own pickles several years ago.

Slept in. I was suppose to be getting my body clock back into some kind of order for going back to work on Monday but, after my alarms went off, I heard the rain battering off the window, thought "fuck off" to myself, turned over and fell back to sleep. Woke at 10:23.

I love pickling! Although I've been more of a jam queen in recent years. Blackberry picking with the best of the OAPs :disco:

I whipped up a batch of apple chutney with apples off my allotment last week so count me in on the pickling train :disco:

I only like seedless raspberry or strawberry jam and I have to be in the mood for it so I've never tried jam-making. It always seemed a bit too complicated to try when I probably wouldn't like the finished product. I love cooking but I've heard that jam can be really difficult if you don't have the special pan and a jam thermometer. At least with pickling it's just onions, salt and vinegar with a few spices and no cooking involved.

Other than blackberry jam what other flavours have you made?

I have also made pickled onions this year as I had a few that didnโ€™t grow to full size. Thereโ€™s only about 15, but thatโ€™ll be enough for Christmas Day evening.

I have a plan to use veg from the allotment on Christmas Day where possible- my sprouts and cabbage are coming on a treat, Iโ€™m hoping there isnโ€™t any frost as Iโ€™ve got a few late potatoes I put in in the hope theyโ€™ll last til Christmas, same with the carrots too.

In conclusion, Iโ€™m so old.

Why did this IMMEDIATELY come to mind, despite not seeing or thinking about it for probably 30 years?

I had pickled watermelon, with mint and feta, this week, and I would very highly recommend

The best pickled onions Iโ€™ve ever tasted are from a farm shop services on the M5. They are utterly amazing. I drive there every Christmas just to stock up!

Wow. Virgin Media's TV fault line is soul-destroying. I'm just waiting for the "how did we do?" email so I can rate Vikas nil points, hopefully there'll be a free-writing section where I can suggest that Vikas learns the phonetic alphabet and goes back to his ESL school to sit the exams again because I reckon somebody else took and passed his English test for him.

That isn't me being racist btw, I was perfectly happy with "Andy"'s grasp of the English language after I'd given up repeating myself four times on each answer to Vikas so hung up and called back to get another operator. I could hear that Vikas had somebody with him, they kept whispering to him, so I asked if he could put them on the phone instead but he told me there was nobody there with him and they whisper-laughed while he was telling me that!

Oh heโ€™s heading to the date straight from work? Well at least that confirms heโ€™s a TOP.

But what sort of job does he do that he is going straight from work on a Saturday night?
