Saturday jam

To prep the ground a few days beforehand, pour boiling water with a bit of salt and washing up liquid mixed in over the weeds. It kills them down!

I'm doing it the olden day way to save the bees! To be honest I'd need about fifteen kettles-full, there are that many of them.

I've got a sprayer and a load of extra-strength glyphosate left over from the Japanese Knotweed cull and was seriously considering using it but my conscience got the better of me. My poor body is not thanking me right now.

How did the Jap Knotweed go? :o Did you manage to get rid?

GOD

I went out to meet my friend and his two friends visiting Amsterdam yesterday after getting quite drunk at a housewarming party. They were "subtly" taking coke under the table at the bar and then we went back to his and ordered ketamine. At some point I fell into an UTTERLY TRAUMATIC K-hole which seemed like it lasted MANY MOONS and 100% had me convinced I would never get out of. Then I vomited several times and slept it off. I feel like I've survived something really quite DARK and AWFUL

Sounds fucking amazing. I rang for some last night but the guy failed to drop off.

I've sworn never to do ket. I'm not here for that kind of hole!

:D

the previous time it happened was so blissful and dreamy so I was quite shocked at how vicious this trip was

I was knackered and fell asleep about and hour or so ago but I just woke up and now I’m wide awake.:bad:

Fingers crossed it's gone. I'm not willing to say it's completely gone because I think it lies dormant in the soil and may come back again if the soil's ever disturbed but last year we only had one tiny plant attempt to sprout up at the side of the shed and this year there's been none. It's actually been nine years since it came the first time, after the neighbour had the concrete fence installed and the fence people disturbed the ground at the side of the shed. That's how long it's taken to fully get rid. The first year it completely filled the gap between the shed and fence and was taller than me, didn't have a clue what it was either. Our council was one who used it as faddy ornamental decoration in parks donkey's years ago (before they knew how invasive it was) so it's everywhere on spare land around here and I imagine that's how it ended up in my garden.

knotweed is like bamboo, isn't it? with a huge net underground. I saw one tiny sprout on our plot and quickly got rid, we have enough trouble with the previous owner's love for bamboo as it is

Japanese knotweed sprouts are actually edible and should be a bit like rhubarb. get a-jammin', @Star!

Yes but only certain types of bamboo! Clumping bamboo is ok, but the other type runs wild...
