Morning slappers.

The booze last night didn't touch the sides. Wasn't drunk at all, poor show. Popped out to the local cake and coffee shop this morning for a naughty Saturday breakfast.

Heading to this delightful riverside pub later for a late lunch.

I think my desire for open air drinking is driven in no small part by right now being at a record fair which has the distinct aroma of old vinyl and old men.
 
I'm off to Alicante. Very happy that my friends and family have sun here in Ireland but slightly begrudging leaving during one of the few sunny weeks of the year.
 
Vinyl buying people - am I wasting my time looking in charity shops?

Bought Ron Jr a record player recently and didnt realise repressed of mass selling shit like Oasis are £40+ new.

Thought I’d try and find him bits to start building a collection but so far all I’m finding is absolute wank. Brass Band albums and novelty records from the 80s.
 
Charity shops aren't exclusively wank, but for the most part, absolutely. Fewer are stocking vinyl at all around these parts, and unless he's developing a penchant for James Last, about 95% of those that do will be useless.

The last charity shop vinyl pile I looked through a few weeks ago revealed such HORRORS as the greatest hits of Cilla Black & Lulu, as well as about 30 albums of whiny dead country singer Jim Reeves, so going off that experience I'd say YES YOU ARE
 
Aye, chazzers are no use now. People are too aware of the "vinyl boom". I saw one in Glasgow asking £8 for a Shakin' Stevens album that looked like it had been at the bottom of a hamster's cage for most of the intervening years.
 
You may get more luck in a music specific branch, like Oxfam has. You're unlikely to get a massive bargain as they tend to have people scouring discogs or Ebay to know the value of what they are selling, but you can still get some reasonable prices.

Also if it's stuff like Oasis (or around that era) that you're looking for, these will be pretty rare anyway, as from 1995 onwards, Woolies stopped stocking vinyl, & HMV & the others greatly reduced the shelf space in favour of CDs & cassettes. So anything from the mid 90s to the recent revival would have had a very limited vinyl release - if you do see one for a decent price in good nick, SNAP IT UP, it'll probably be worth a bit.

That’s about the size of it now. It truly upsets me that my hobby has been destroyed. I used to spend days going round the chazzas but it’s just absolute shite now.

Car boots are the best bet.

Or find a Discogs seller with a good catalogue and you’ll be able to pick up a few things in one go fairly good pricing.

I have had a nosy on discogs but a lot of what he wants and what I want to buy him isnt much cheaper than new!

Yeah for the reasons given above, I think.

And whatever you do, avoid HMV and their “sales”. Hilariously overpriced tat.
 
Yeah it was his Nanny who got done for £40 on oasis and I’d wager it was in HMV.

If he wants that Japanese import Gorillaz picture disc it’ll have to be another grandparent job
 
Picture discs are nice to look at but also famously shit sound quality. If that matters to a kid.
 
Was at a vinyl fair in Clevedon last weekend. Managed to get Eartha Kitt - I Love Men (:disco:) and a Donna Summer LP with the 17 minute MacArthur Park disco suite on for £1 apiece. Was AGOG at someone trying to sell a vinyl of the Madonna - 4 Minutes single for £50!

I was in Clevedon yesterday. Went to Ladye Bay for the first time in my life.

Didn't know they had record fairs there. Are you sure you weren't just doing a shift in the St Peter's Hospice shop?
 
The sheer amount of time I spent HOOVERING UP discarded vinyl going for NEXT TO NOTHING in the early 90s. Now it's all ROTTING IN MY GARAGE

It was in an industrial estate, so I think they just hire out one of the buildings every month or so.
