Shakespears Sister reunion

Good that there's been quite a bit of promo. Hopefully they will do some more for the album release in July.

I assume that C U Next Tuesday will be put out before the GH. They referred to it as the next single in one of their interviews.

I had an email yesterday telling me to login to my account to download the new instant grat track, but I can only see All The Queen's Horses. Is there another one?

Cassette limited to 500 copies also released today.

It would be ridiculous to buy it, wouldn't it?

Yes I got two emails to this effect, but all I could see on there was Horses. No mention of anything new anywhere as far as I can see. I assume we will get C.U.N.T. at some point before the album though.

A more raucous, if not quite as good, companion to All The Queen's Horses.

There's a bit of the Bitter Pill spirit in there too.

My copy will be with Royal Mail until Monday, it looked nice in HMV though.

I had a listen to the interview on Spotify last night - more of the same really, though slightly more in depth and I liked the bit where they both marvelled at Marcy's opera madness on Black Sky.

Whilst it will inevitably be front-loaded, it's at midweek number 5! Which I would say is damned incredible!

Sales must be through the FLOOR considering "Shalamar Gold", a £5 budget compilation, is in the top 30 though :D

Shakespear's Sister have sold 3.1k to be midweek #5, so sales are dire.

Those Gold artist compilations are stocked in the supermarkets, so with a £5 price tag I'm not surprised to see acts charting with sales so low.

I mean, 2019 seeing Brotherhood Of Man, Kiki Dee, Hank Marvin and Showaddywaddy charting with albums. It's ludicrous, really...

I actually went for the Brotherhood of Man and Kiki Dee ones :D

Well no matter what the sales are they still have (currently) the 5th most popular album out there this week and who would have thought that would happen in 2019?

I think the comeback announcement was made too soon. I don’t know if it was excitement or their schedules or prioritising gig ticket sales but they probably should have done the promos they did a couple of months ago over the past couple of weeks.

I got the Kiki Dee one as well and the tracklisting for the Shalamar one looks very good. They are obviously basic but presented quite nicely with it. Think I will probably pass on the upcoming Belinda one with the usual and a few choice chanting cuts.

The Belinda one is very good indeed if you've not bothered with the recentish compilations, isn't it? I can well see my mother going for it in Asda.

What, if you've not bothered with the SEVENTEEN TIMES they've re-issued the Belinda back catalogue so far already? :D

I've no idea. The only thing I've bought was a reissue of Heaven On Earth. I think the middle one.

It's been RIDICULOUS. Edsel/Demon got hold of her catalogue in 2013 and since then, they've had:

Expanded editions (1/2/3CD editions + DVD) of all albums
Single cd reissues of all albums
Vinyl reissues of all albums
Coloured vinyl reissues of all albums
"Heaven on Earth" picture disc
"The Collection" CD
"Greatest Volume 1" CD
"Greatest Volume 2" (digital only release, so maybe fair enough)
"Icon" CD
"The CD Singles" boxset
"The Anthology" boxset
"The Complete Studio Albums" boxset
"The Very Best of" CD
"The Collection" vinyl
"Heaven on Earth" 30th Anniversary Edition CD
The Vinyl Albums 1987-1993 Collection
"The Collection" coloured vinyl
"Heaven On Earth" Box Set
"Runaway Horses" Box Set

Most of them have had the odd track or two they *WHOOPS* found in a vault somewhere or something new in an attempt to make money from OLD ROPE again. And I'm pretty sure I've missed something out of that list as well. I mean, in six years, "Gold" will basically be her sixth completely distinct Greatest Hits compilation, not even including any of the times she's reissued those themselves in different formats.

#14 in the end.

That must be few thousand pre-orders and very little else.

Yes I would say so. It might have helped a bit to have a single on Radio 2 and some more promo closer to release but I can't imagine it would have changed that much.

If they do continue post tour and EP (which I am looking forward to hearing more about) it will surely be independently.

Just under 3.6k in the end. So 500 copies sold since the first midweeks. It's going to fall HARD next week. Possibly out of the chart altogether.

It doesn't look like ticket sales are that great, either. Or at least looking at the tickets left for the Bath Forum gig (capacity about 1600), they can't have sold much more than half.

They'll need to get discounting then. I thought London would have sold much better but looking at the Palladium website it seems only about two thirds of the tickets have gone.

I'm really quite pissed off, considering we did the whole online at 9am thing on presale and got tickets at the side, two thirds of the way back, and there are still better left.

Bastards. And why don't I ever learn?

Well let’s face it darling, they only ever really had the one hit and there was hardly going to be a scrum at the Our Price and other music retailers du jour

Nevertheless I’m looking forward to hearing about indescribably and shockingly foul recriminations. BY FAX IDEALLY :disco:

I mean I DID SAY to Siobhan over a carbonara at the Pizza Express that she should have released her Best Of in 27 different formats

Just look at the success of Madonna’s wonderful comeback! A whole FOUR WEEKS in the Hot 100! :disco:

I know I’ve only been away for a month but oh wow I just can’t believe the lounge is still here and all that other shit people say when they’ve been lurking on a daily basis for years on end and have set up alerts so they know when someone tags them no names mentioned obviously but @funky :tongueout:

I don't know who said that, I thought you promised not to come back until Madame X vanished from the charts (which happened WEEKS ago).

Didn’t it only happen this week? Well I suppose I MIGHT have said that. Luckily it didn’t take too long :disco:

Well that was simply stunning. A real success story. Obviously it was allegedly #9 on SALES in the second week, but I expect that was thanks to the pop-up book (with “free” concert ticket), eight track cassette, flexi disc and 78 RPM limited editions :disco:
