Shania Twain - Dirty Rosie + Little Miss Twain

Well the promo hasn't been the best for this album, I haven't bothered with it yet

I'm guessing she's not going to get a third straight UK #1 ALBAM with this

She also picked a very packed week to release it. Charli and The Strokes were always going to outsell her easily.

mind you the last album I said that about was Sweat by Melanie C so maybe I'm Shania's good luck charm :)

Missing the top 10 ALBAMS entirely would be disaster. It won't change her legacy really one bit actually BUT STILL

#3 in the UK midweeks!

ne 01 Charli xcx - Music, Fashion, Film
re 02 Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
ne 03 Shania Twain - Little Miss Twain
ne 04 The Strokes - Reality Awaits

a 20k number one is all you'd expect I think given the low profile campaign (and the fact that it's NOT FOR GAYS). it's more than Crash debuted with.

In the US Charli xcx is predicted to debut with 65-70k and The Strokes with 28-33k. Shania isn't mentioned. :eyes:

The fall off from UP! to Now was pretty significant in the USA (I assume it has a lot to do with the 15 year break). Queen Of Me hit #10 here but the sales were god awful. I can’t imagine this one is going to do much for her here at least.

So does she still tour quite big in the US/Canada? I assumed she did but then is that just Vegas one off shows etc. I didn't realise her new releases did so lesser there.

I'm sure Shania could still sell out arenas but maybe I'm mistaken? I also didn't know how poorly she's done over there since Up!

Didn't her shows a couple of years ago go viral for being so bad?

Likely. Not to break out the book of stats but I’ve heard from multiple people IRL how bad she was at a live festival gig a few years ago. I’m sure she’s aware but as long as she’s selling tickets it has to be where she makes her money these days.

HITS projected her to miss the top 20 in the US (the #20 has estimated sales of 27k units).

Not great considering the variants…

I'm not surprised really. I don't think variants work as well for an artist like her, who I really don't think has a rabid, hardcore fanbase ready to snap up lots of variants.

My friends saw her a few years back and said she was awful live. I’ve never seen her personally so can’t say if that is the case.

I saw her during the Up! Tour, glad I did back then. All went a bit shit right after.

I saw her live at BST Hyde Park two years ago and she really did sound quite terrible for the first quarter, then it got better and I wasn't sure if the sound got better, the backing vocals/pre-play kicked in or it just got into a groove, probably all three. By the end it was enjoyable but as a big fan, I'd say it was almost cringe at the start.

She also sounded terrible at Glasto that year, for some of the songs anyway.

I saw her on her Queen Of Me tour and found it enjoyable. It was also my first time seeing her so my opinion of it might be clouded.

Slips to #5 in the latest midweek:

01 Charli xcx - Music, Fashion, Film (19,119) [14,073 physicals, 1,506 downloads, 3,540 streaming]
02 Snow Patrol - Eyes Open (9,466)
03 Michael Jackson - The Essential (8,401)
04 Olivia Rodrigo - you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love (8,280)
05 Shania Twain - Little Miss Twain (6,980)
06 The Strokes - Reality Awaits (6,490)

the nice thing about her long hiatus was that she disappeared as a legendary diva with a very rare 100% hit record. 3 of her 4 albums were certified diamond in the US and Canada!

it's good that she came back and maybe a shame she can't sustain her success but also she's a 60 year old woman who last had a real hit in 2003. who really cares if she flops? there's nothing on the line.
