not really, it looks contrived af. a Britney Jean is my most personal album tea. also several of the songs are shorter than 2 minutes.
 
Sounds like a bit of a HIT. He hasn't really had one since "Seniorita"

 
oh my god I totally forgot about Señorita, I mean I love Charli XCX and everything but damned be the day she gave this song to him and inflicted EVIL upon the world...

I still bop to When You're Gone.
 
I don’t particular find him attractive (I mean I would, of course), and his music is by and large dreadful.

But this is rather good

That’s not great, but has he been big for a while? I assume he’s had more since Senorita but that’s the last time I remember anything and that’s about 6 years ago now I assume?
 
A quick wiki shows that was a bit more recent, but no real big hits since about 2020
 
the silly paparazzi-baiting relationship with Camila did a lot of damage to his image I think. he just suddenly became really uncool and seemed a bit desperate and his streams fell off quite quickly.

it's been a while now though and I can see this becoming a hit in the current climate
 
I posted this in the Americana thread - it reminds me a lot of Ray LaMontagne at the start, really good, but then the song drifts into pop ballad territory and it loses any of the authenticity he was going for

Just be one thing or the other babes
 
Happy for him. I can't imagine my sexuality being so heavily scrutinized and he's been famous since he was 15. You also have to acknowledge what the machine of the entertainment industry does to young people, who are often emotionally stunted by their disrupted adolescence while simultaneously being projected as hyper-adult and sexual, for female audiences. I imagine it was all a LOT to process. I hope he's doing well.
 
100% agreed. I think it's obvious that Camila relationship was a PR stunt that not only damaged his career and turned fans off him but was probably insisted on because he wasn't ready or able to come out and just be himself. despite this he seems fairly grounded and normal.

The latest one is GREAT, easily the best of the campaign, but it's more AMERICANA so be warned :)

 
Maybe I need to give it another try but I was surprised by how acoustic the album is. I mean I love acoustic music but I was hoping for a bit more 70s soft rock from him. I’m still loving the above song, a career best for me.
