GOD, it's disappointing having to MAKE MY OWN THREAD!

Anyway...as I said the other day, I got invited onto the Backstraight Boys podcast last week, and it's just been posted, so I thought I might do a bit of SHAMELESS promotion and shove it here for anyone who might be interested.

National indoor record for Femke Bol in her first 800m today, 1:59.07. Looked quite comfortable but she did get to run uninterrupted the whole way from the front, it’ll be interesting to see how she manages when running in a scrappy pack when it happens.

She’ll be even better.

1:59 solo on your debut indoors is fucking incredible- she looked soooooo easy!
 
Though it's not a huge surprise she's not going to bother with the World Indoors, Femke has announced she is not going to run 800m again indoors this season. I think it's a pity- one, it would be good for her to get more practice in a pack (which she didn't have in that solo run at the weekend) ahead of the outdoor season, and I just think a bit of 800m championship experience in her legs wouldn't be a bad thing, even if she doesn't medal/ win/ hell, make the final.
 
British Champs this weekend too- and I'm going. Seems to have come around REALLY early though. The World Indoors isn't until 20th March (which is quite late) and is in Europe, so I'm not sure whether there's any logical reasoning behind it, other than the availability of the host venue, maybe.

Excited that Dina is running the 60 and though it's not her best event, Amy Hunt should give her a good run. Definitely want both at the World Indoors. Dina, I think, could do with getting on a global podium right now and it's definitely going to help Amy's start for the 100 in the summer.

Interested to see Amber Anning after running the 400m World Lead and Keely vs Isabelle Boffey is going to be fun- though I think Georgia Hunter-Bell is going to do the 1500, which takes a bit away from it.

Upset that Matt Hudson- Smith's name was in the 400m (his first indoors for YEARS!) until he admitted he'd accepted by accident and would be going nowhere near! :D

And Amy just equalled her PB in her second meet of the season with a 7.09 in Belgrade. 0.01 outside Dina’s SB.

Meh. So annoying. BA have brought this on themselves really by not making qualification assured even if you finish top two.

Great run from Dina. Amy was a bit off form- she basically dropped a weight on her head yesterday in training. Said she was still “boss eyed” during the heat this morning, so to still run 7.15 and make the podium was great.
 
I feel like from what I've seen of Amy in the 100m and 200m she always takes a while to get into her stride, so this short shortest of event, even though she's brilliant, is not her forte? Glad for Dina though, with Daryl on the mend our relay should be looking :disco:
 
Just finished catching up on today's lengthy programme. Very enjoyable.

Keely was so impressive, that gap just opened up so quickly. Maybe we can let her off skipping tomorrow after that, if she has the WR in her sights.

Good on Amy running well despite her mishap yesterday. I did think she was decidedly chilly with Dina immediately post-race too.

Absolutely right. The 60m is basically to help work on her start/ first few strides. Last year it helped a lot- she never expected 5th at World Indoors- so to do it again this year should hopefully do even more. She’s nailed a start in the last couple of meets, so hopefully she can get that consistency to improve her 100m.

With the relay, though, it’s not always about raw speed- as last year showed. Daryll wasn’t on the right form either. But if they can get it right, then they should be challenging for golds globally.

The rivalry is REAL, but I don’t think it’s built on anything other than mutual respect from what I know and see. All the British sprinters want the best but are nice to each other- unlike a few years ago. There’s a camaraderie and teamwork there, which shows in the relay.

Sensational time, obviously, I really think she can get the outdoor one too. I think last season’s relative disappointments and Femke switching have really lit something in her now that she’s injury free, although she’s always been super motivated.
 
Changed her name to double barrelled already. Annoying when she has one of the most iconic names in athletics.
 
Oh no. I guess it could have been worse. Broeders-Bol at least sounds ok.

I can't believe 'two finals' is even a thing, terrible!

The two finals thing is appalling. Everyone now goes out super hard to try and run a fast time and ultimately fails because they go out too quick. Tonight’s was annoying as no way anyone is getting past Lieke Klaver at 200m but Bukowiecka needed it to be quicker to beat Manuel. Stuck behind her then until the final straight. She’d have won in the other final, I guarantee it.

Lovely little champs, though. The stadium looks amazing. Properly good job.
 
I just think the whole point of a final is to actually all be in the same race, in the final! Otherwise its just time trials. Awful.
 
Greg Rutherford also picking apart Dina Asher-Smith's post match comments was quite interesting! 🤔🤔

I am OBSESSED with the absolute gay nonsense drama of this women’s 4x4. It’s like they gave a gay intern the line up choice and he went crazy.

I saw Amy Hunt earlier and she said she’d said she’d be up for it but no one took her up on it. Imagine if they’d thrown shit at the fan and done that too!

I mean, they’re probably coming 5th, but come on… :disco:
 
This is giving me Sally Pearson doing every track event on the track to save 'STRALIA and I'm quite liking it :D :disco:
