Who deserves a forum more? Janet or Wednesday?

Anyways, hope y'all are doing well.

Thanksgiving break for next 5 days! Happy Thanksgiving @POP! and @RJN. Sorry if I've missed any other fellow Americans.

WEDNESDAY IS A FLOP DAY.

Hello Moopy from 5.50am, I’m awake after a wonderful 5 hours of sleep.

Do Americans get any work done between Thanksgiving and Christmas? I’d be fucking useless.

It's 3:09 local time.
I'm at a (supposedly great) hotel spending last night and next morning with my son (it's his 12th birthday tomorrow/today) and due to the poor sound insulation in this shithole I was woken up by loud guests at the reception and decided to watch the Bake Off final until my tired body can succumb to sleep and wake up to celebrate my moody little one's (he's not that little anymore) birthday when I wake up, before I leave him with his mother again and head back home for all the work that awaits me....

I think I haven't posted anything in the day thread for years.
That's what a sleepless night can do to you.

Thanks for reading this essay, whoever you are.

It’s 7:25 I could be asleep for at least another hour but nooooo body decided otherwise

Anyway I’ve got coconut milk in my coffee today which is giving me a tropical vibe, but I can’t help thinking a splash of RUM would make it perfect.

I tried going dairy-free-ish this year and started drinking oat and then soya milk which I liked but seemed to give me sexy ECZEMA round the mouth. Back to cow juice for me.

Cows milk in its raw form I just find weird, not enough to stop me eating cheese however, also I like the variety in dairy free milk, I flit between cashew/rice/coconut/almond.

I feel exactly the same about cow’s milk as @Lucille (and probably the same about hole milk, for that matter, but I digress). It weirds me out, but I eat all other dairy. They looked at me very strange last year in that café in Brighton when I asked for a mint choc chip milkshake with soy milk but “the ice cream is fine”. :D

I had (double) cream last week for the first time in ages too and that weirded me out a little bit too, even though I normally love it. But yeah, cheese, butter, custard, so...

PLANT BASED MILK RATE

1. Oat
2. Hazelnut
3. Almond
4. Coconut
5. Soy

Has to be sugar free though, which is harder to find than you’d think.

Oat can be a bit gloopy in certain circumstances but some Almond milk is basically translucent water so you need to watch yr brands. Coconut is good in a muesli, especially if there's a few cheeky wee bits of coconut in there in the first place.

I have similar to Sheena at a local coffee shop when I ask for oat milk, but whichever syrup I ask for isn't vegan - they always point it out and then I feel kind of sheepish saying I'm not vegan, I just prefer oat milk. Obviously it's good that they let you know if you are vegan, but it does make me wonder why they can't make caramel or whatever syrups vegan in the first place.

I've noticed that pretty much all dairy (but particularly milk) is leaving me increasingly PHLEGMY after having it. I think that's very much known though, isn't it?

Reducing it in my diet did make an improvement for me in that regard. I don't know if there was a mild intolerance on my part but, as much as I miss blue cheese, I don't miss the gaseous emissions the day after.

Yes! I've always been told when the kids have a cold not to give dairy or bananas as they make you more phlegmy

Oh I’ve been off milk for ages . Then again I only drink boring string black coffee plain anyway

(NB - I missed it at first too - probably for the same reason...)

Does Ag have Kindacool on ignore? I'm guessing that means he might not see the thread?

In my adventures with milk alternatives I've found that the unsweetened version of Almond Breeze (from Blue Diamond I think?) is very good in terms of taste and texture - I don't like the bitterness of the 'roasted' almond milks.

FAKE MILKS FORUM NOW

I absolutely do. It's mutual. I figure it's his loss. If I do ever reveal ignored content I'm normally reminded why.

I have no real reason to consume milk so even less reason to consume milk alternatives. I tried a bit of oat once and that was FINE I GUESS
