is this the quintessential smashing pumpkins song? i think so.

Good track, one I really need to listen to more.

Tonight, Tonight I think I prefer mind.

Love love love.

I was exposed to a lot of music through my older sister and I've always been grateful that she loved them.

For all his self-idolizing grandeur and prog-rock fantasia (which was never a bad thing as it often worked), the stoned sonics of 1979 is the stunning come down. When it ends, it's understated and poignant. Now to decide whether I have it in me to Google what former fuck-you goddess D'arcy is looking like these days (in the studio with a band last I heard).

This, Disarm, Tonight Tonight and Bullet With Butterfly Wings are all up there as 90s AMERICAN ROCK THAT I QUITE LIKE.

One those bands that i was very much into 15 years ago but i really couldn't care that much about anymore. 1979 is a pretty decent tune but i have no real desire to hear again.

count me in when it comes to appreciating 1979 and Tonightx2, also I've always had a soft spot for Ava Adore and Tryx3. Too bad Billy got angry at the charts during the 2000s and forgot how to write a tune afterwards.

also, saw them live circa 2007 and they were pretty shit tbh though to be fair I DON'T think there were any remaining members from the original lineup by that point.

Aww. You will always be my whore, Pipo <3

Adore is their masterpiece, and the imagery is probably my absolute favourite (tied with Celebrity Skin) of any era of alternative rock. D'arcy and her nipples stealing the show of course. Perfect breathes new life with each play.

I love it - it's always boggled me quite a bit that this Liz Phair song (also great) never credited it:

Gash.

However, "Today", "Disarm", "Tonight, Tonight" and "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" are all excellent and stand up really, really well today.

I remember seeing them on Later after they'd sacked the drummer and they had 3 drummers...or maybe it was 2 and a percussionist...but it sounded amazing. They were doing something from Adore. When I heard the record I remember thinking "oh, this is actually a bit shit :( "

i used to like more of their stuff - bullet, zero, tonight - but these days i find them too angsty and a bit dated. adore on the other hand i still love.
