Yep. I think Now has to do this type of thing from time to time to uphold its tradition of being the worst uk streamer to use

At least it was during the quite poor monologue

LOVED the British themed pub song. Instant classic
 
I really enjoyed the hostage sketch. sharp writing. Jools Holland clocks was some fun nonsense :D and the son returning from war a bit of a dud
 
Loved the Jools Holland sketch. George Foreacres really has a style.
 
The wrap factory musical felt like a miss to me. Maybe it’s funnier if you eat wraps.
 
I thought that was the best of the night (after the cold open) :o I love a musical number on SNL
 
another good episode. maybe not a sketch as good as JUGS but consistently fun and Jamie was game. think Riz Ahmed next week will kill it
 
I found something to enjoy in every sketch. A good ep, probs even a bit stronger than last week for me.
 
The cold open was so good. Fergie in general and the walk in particular :D

I enjoyed it again, though I still think it runs that bit too long.
 
They need to put some more stuff online. The cold opening was great, the British Themed Pub song was really well observed and the Jools sketch had me hooting when the obviously cut-out Jools flew across the night sky. They should put more of the weekend update up too.
 
OK, the hostage sketch is brilliant - was that Annabel Marlow? She absolutely smashed that.

Unlike the US one which (I think?) posts everything, they're being quite picky with what they upload.

They've not even posted Dornan's monologue from last night, so it feels less about trying to lure people to watch the full thing on Sky/Now and more about having a HITS ONLY social footprint
 
Dornan was good value overall but the monologue wasn't the best bit.

I got a reasonably lengthy survey from Sky on the second episode this morning. I don't remember getting surveys from them about specific shows before.

that's superb. the US show varies quite a bit and usually spikes when a very buzzy guest host is on (eg. Connor Storrie recently). so I imagine it will be quite variable based on host.
 
You can see that, tho'. The filming is done well, the sets are good and it's a large ensemble cast with an even larger writing room. It's heartening to see comedy at that scale because it was pretty much reduced to panel shows and stand up.

Jack Whitehall the first PROVINCIAL feeling host.

I feared it'd be that level from show one though, and at least he'll be good.
 
I have no issue with hosts who are largely only known in the UK at all, as long as they are good at it.
 
Jack Whitehall has been in some Hollywood films so he’s not exactly provincial. He’s also starring in a new Peacock show with Keke Palmer, so that’s the obvious reason for the choice.

I'd have thought to any international audience interested enough to watch the UK version, he'll have a reasonable degree of name recognition. Not that I think it matters at all, as long as the host is good.
 
It's difficult for this first season - if they bring in 'big' comedians, it looks as if the cast need shoring up. Whitehall is about as big as they can go, given that he's now known less as a standup and more as a TV/presenter/actor, albeit comedic in all capacities.
 
That said, I'd love it if they got people like Paul Merton or Julian Clary - real seniors, national treasures (Kathy Burke already mentioned).
 
I think they should exclusively target stars who'd realistically be asked to host the US one + Jane McDonald

Wasn’t Julian Clary already involved in the 80s incarnation of Saturday Live? Ben Elton and Harry Enfield definitely were.
