So it looks like the S Club revival is really happening...

ALL the guys have aged worse than the girls. I think I still remain pretty youthful at my best, but even I can conclude, that at the very least, I look like an adult version of me. The comparisons are rather unfair!

Can't help but feel bad for Paul. His face is that of someone who really doesn't want to be there. He must want the cash/didn't want to let the others down, but is it worth all the dragging he's getting from it? :( Poor guy.

I am happy for him. It wasn’t so long ago he was asking all the reality tv programmes to take him on as he was so skint and he was told he wasn’t famous enough. He will get a nice payday from this, as well as raising his profile for the likes of IACGMOOH/CBB where he would get another hefty sum for taking part in.

Yes, I hope they’ve all negotiated good contracts for this (except for Jo who I hope they’re telling the pay is the exposure). Wasn’t Hannah HOMELESS over Christmas?

Yes, living in an office.

I’ve already had a row with a perfectly rational friend who thinks it’s been hilarious to make “Paul is fat” jokes. I really don’t see how it’s ok.

Hannah is opening a holistic cafe in London that has been in the works for some time but apparently she had pretty bad health leading to the opening of the cafe so it was littered with setbacks. She was quite successful in acting after S Club, no?

I think she was for a couple of years but nothing in the last ten or so has there been?

I don’t see why Paul is getting so much grief, he has looked like ‘this’ for twenty plus years. Let’s move on and leave him alone.

I don't begrudge them taking the opportunity to capitalise on the nostalgia and earn some money. But that's literally all I see when they're together. It's so transparently calculated.

They don't need to make a Steps-style comeback. But I wish they'd bung out some vinyl reissues, the TV shows on streaming or literally anything that showed their legacy is worth more than a quick ££. Particularly when the tours during their heyday were pretty rubbish anyway.

That’s all they will make from the tour? :o
Just a guess, I have no actual idea.

They were salaried before, so never raked it in like Steps, who were on a much better deal and got a cut from their live shows which ended up being very lucrative.

I don't imagine they make anything from the records, so reissues won't be topping up their bank balances.

That's always been the big difference between Steps and S Club for me. Steps have always exuded genuine joy in what they do and appreciation for their fans. S Club barely even pretend that they enjoy their own music. It's all very going through the motions.

I don't begrudge them it at all as they were treated like shit in their heyday. But it's not for me.

Didn't intend my post to read as making fun of Paul for being overweight BTW, I just thought the angle of that photo recreation was inevitably a bit unflattering.

Oddly the 2015 tour was actually ok, though I was half cut so it may have been that. The TV performances were horrendous last time around so hopefully there’s at least an ounce of effort going in this time.

It currently screams Spice Girls 2007 rather than Steps 2017 so far.

I think I read somewhere that they were paid 150k a year each which was paltry compared to what they must have brought in at the time.

I think people who were in popular groups like S Club back in the day are genuinely quite fortunate as if they do run short they can go on a reunion tour to top up their coffers and you will always have a fair amount who will pay money to see them because of the nostalgia element.

Money aside, I can't imagine any of this is going to be great for Paul's self esteem

Looking 45 is one thing, but it's another thing to be made to pose alongside that virgin-blood-drinking lot.

Even the two other guys aren't doing that badly, Bradley's poor sartorial choices aside. Jon is ALMOST I-would.

The most popular thing she was in was probably Primeval, which was ITV's attempt at a Saturday evening family drama following the success of the Doctor Who revival - and I think it's fair to say Hannah's casting was a pretty clear attempt to emulate Billie Piper's success. She got good reviews as far as I remember!

The last time I saw her was in EastEnders a few years ago, where she had a couple of short stints as Karen Taylor's sister. That was actually a pretty fun character who I wouldn't have minded being brought in as a regular, but sadly it was not to be.

I totally forgot she was in Eastenders.

Hopefully Paul is appreciating that all publicity is good publicity.

They're just so uninteresting to me. The music hasn't aged especially well and as people they go from despicable to dull. Why Steps just have 'it' over S Club and others, is quite hard to pin down.

I am actually a bit FED UP of the whole nostalgia train. I would much prefer they came back with some new music with an accompanying tour. They have done the reunion tour already, do something else now.

This is not just a dig at S Club7, but also The Spice Girls and whoever else comes back to make a bit of money every few years singing THE SAME OLD SONGS.

Yeah I agree. It's just the same again so far, when they could be doing so much more. It's all a bit LOW RENT (and I really did love them)

At least Jon has said they will most likely be putting the TV series on a streaming service, for those who care about THAT

I don't feel like it's fat shaming Paul (on here anyway) - it's just a general 'letting himself go' compared to all the other 6 who look like they care about their appearance. And I get that that's materialistic and blah blah.. but... they're coming back as pop stars not builders.

NEWS: 45 year old man lives like 45 year old man

Is it letting himself go, or is it how his body has naturally changed over the years based on his genetics AND no longer having an intensive physical daily routine? Sometimes these things just sort of happen!

You can eat a healthy diet and be overweight, and you can take regular exercise and also be overweight. Just feel like that needs saying!

Sorry but this is deserving of a :manson:
I would like to join you on this.

I don't think it especially matters if Paul is fat because of genetics or fat because he eats too much and doesn't exercise enough. It's his body and he doesn't owe anybody an explanation. As long as he's able to do the performances it shouldn't be an issue. (Although like the Madonna thing, it'd be disingenuous to just pretend it hadn't happened)

The suggestion that chunky guys (which many of us here are by the way) don't care about their appearance is pretty shitty

I LITERALLY said it wasn't because of him being fat. As Lolly said, a good haircut would sort out most of the issue.
