Can't believe you're all posting about using twitter for porn and not sharing your accounts.

Just been reminded of another reason not to delete Facebook. WISH ADS!

Not to mention that Sugababes subscription!

I got into a political fight with my cousin and she blocked me :(:D

06 Facebook - Is fine. Fewer people using it makes it less interesting, but it's still perfectly fine.
02 Twitter - Useful for LIVE EVENTS but otherwise i find it fucking annoying.
01 Instagram - Couldn't really give a fuck. I mean, it comes through to facebook anyway so whatever.
00 Snapchat - Seems pointless. I've only used it when messenger is down.
04 TikTok - My first hour i spent on tiktok i didn't click anything so as to ensure lack of personalisation. I saw a lot of girls of questionable age showing a questionable amount of flesh. Once you get past that, it's fine, fairly addictive but i can go a month without bothering
05 YouTube - Generally only if i'm looking for something.
05 Reddit - Similarly, only if i'm looking for something. It is useful when it needs to be.
02 LinkedIn - Useful for about two minutes of stalking every couple of months.
00 Tumblr - Never really used.
00 Pinterest - Nah, i don't get it. Seems like a load of shit.
01 Parler - It's very existence is a little amusing.

I feel like you could get HOURS OF FUN out of trolling LinkedIn.
We certainly have. Almost every short-lived colleague who ever got sacked for gross misconduct has been later found on LinkedIn HUGELY embellishing their roles and time at the company.

We had someone who was with us for 6 weeks as a temp who just did some file scanning, but later saw he had marked himself as a senior manager for 2 years, when he really got sacked for generally being incompetent but mostly very creepy.

Why are there so many detestable gay couples thinking they're cute, and why do I watch them anyway?

not that I’m interested at all, but what are all of their names?

my tiktok doesn’t know I’m gay yet

I think I’m going to purge my TikTok of westerners, I just want nice Japanese guys with nice thighs

I'm finding Facebook and Instagram, which I begrudgingly doom scroll, now have ads every couple of posts and it's driving me mad. I don't know if it's because no-one I know posts anymore (especially on Facebook) or they have just upped the ad ratio, but they're borderline unusable. Please don't tell me I have to do a Tik Toks

I still use Facebook a fair amount to upload photos, I basically use it as my own photo album.

Instagram I used to stalk celebrities, and it's a very useful way to promote our shop.

Tiktok I used to pass the time, I neve repost, just scroll.

I don't use any of the others.

00 Facebook - don’t have it
00 Twitter - don’t have it
00 Instagram - too superficial / don’t have it
00 Snapchat - don’t have it
00 TikTok - don’t have it
09 YouTube - we’d be lost without it
06 Reddit - depends what you use it for, definitely some toxic communities but overall it can be great. Doesn’t have too much utility if you’re posting on here.
00 LinkedIn - 🤢🤢
00 Tumblr - is this still around?
06 Pinterest - don’t mind this one
00 Parler - huh?

Not really a social media person and for many years I was treated suspiciously / like a drug dealer. Nowadays I find many more people are the same and finally “get it”.

They're both getting worse and worse and yet my time spent scrolling mindlessly on them is getting more and more frequent.

I'm gonna finish a fundraiser I'm doing next week and then am going to deactivate both for a good break.

My Facebook feed has started showing me THREADS that it thinks I'm interested in, but the algorithm isn't good. I assume it thinks I'm interested in #LGBT (:eyes:) but I'm just getting a load of TERFy nonsense. I'm scrolling past, not clicking, and trying to ignore, but then the same post keeps coming up (like it's "unread"). No thank you.

Does ANYONE even used Threads? Or has it become a bit of an echo chamber for the fringes of society who have been hounded from the more well used medias? Is this why I'm seeing a load of shit on there?

I would happily delete it but it's all attached to Meta isn't it? So I don't think that'll do anything.

09 YouTube - use it for music, linguistics, historical and documentary content
08 Twitter - use it for all breaking news, porn and to look at who's being canceled every day
08 TikTok - use it for entertainment
05 Facebook - never actually use facebook per se / still use its messenger app for 99% of my chats
05 Instagram - use it to watch shirtless individuals
04 Reddit - use it for maps
00 Snapchat - no
00 Tumblr - no
00 Pinterest - no
00 Parler - no
-100 LinkedIn - haven't used it for the past couple of years and I hope it DIES

09 YouTube - I use this quite a lot - it's really good for demonstrations of audio/musical equipment; I've auditioned a *lot* of effects pedals via YouTube and it's helped me make good decisions. Good for comedy too and, increasingly podcasts (I watched Pod Save The UK's year end special yesterday). But it has got *very* ad heavy recently, much more so than it was a year ago. Either that or they've worked out how to stay ahead of ad blockers.
07 Instagram - I quite like Instagram, especially the story feature - it's entertaining when I'm bored and sleepy.
03 Facebook - I have this in theory but I don't actively use it any more.
02 Twitter/X - now just boring; full of ads, full of scams, full of liars, weirdos, fascists and terfs. Will get rid once I've established alternate means of contact with a few people.
01 Reddit - I literally only look in on 2 subReddits; it's a bit of a binfire otherwise. I don't have an account tho'.
00 TikTok - don't have it.
00 Snapchat - don't have it.
00 Tumblr - don't have it.

I only just downloaded it the other day because I was getting annoyed by all the previews in instagram that I couldn’t open.
Most people that have added me seem to not have posted a thing so I guess everyone else just downloaded the app and then left.

Literally only posted a slut pic and left

This sort of thing, fuck off I don't want to see it :zombie:

Threads has been a tremendous failure, right? It's worse than twitter somehow.

At least you can mute the nazi talking points/terf shit/love island hashtag on twitter.

I've only got the Instagram app, mainly for work purposes as the browser version is awful. It's mad how ubiquitous social media is/was to our lives and how it's now dying.

I only really go on Facebook out of default, it's mostly wank and I usually shut it shortly after browsing. I use Reddit for research, Twitter I'm using less and less as that dies, Threads is pointless. Insta is good for whiling away a few dull moments but tbh, I'm done with the lot really. I put screentime on my phone just before Christmas out of curiosity and I spend most of my phone time reading news and communicating via whatsapp.

It wasn't ready - it was just tossed out because Twitter was on fire. Net result; large number of people went "this is shit" and left, leaving it to the nazis, terfs, techbros and general wankers.

I don't really know how the points system works... out of 10?

06 Facebook - I don't use it much but find the groups useful seeing as much of the world is allergic to web forums nowadays. I sometimes make a post there but it feels like such a soapbox and you get either prominently ignored (if it's something nerdy / outside the norm) or LIKED TO DEATH (popped out a sprog or got engaged) so mostly ignore the main feed. Main annoyance is if you do see something interesting and the page refreshes you can never find it again. A big downside is the videos keep catching my eye and I need to train myself to stop lingering because it's always someone pouring about 50 different substances down the toilet in a "cleaning hack" or whatever.

-07 Twitter - X if you must. Full of TERFs, toxicity, "cancellations"/witch hunts, arrogance, just brings out the absolute worst in everyone. Musk came along and somehow made it 10x worse. Hate it with a passion nowadays, deleted my entire ~14 year history and left.

07 Instagram - I might have got lucky in how well I curated my follow list but I find it's alright. Just lots of pretty pictures. Very rarely see politics or twattery in my feed. Shame it forces sets of pics to all be the same aspect ratio.

02 Snapchat - have it, barely use it, never really understood the point. It's rare that I feel "too old to understand", usually I'm a bit more "how do you do, fellow kids?", but I think this is an exception.

04 TikTok - I understand this a little more after watching my ex scroll through it endlessly. But it takes some effort to teach the algorithm what you actually find funny/interesting (which I find varies wildly - others are laughing their arses off at things on it and showing me while I'm like "ha.. ha?") and I've not really had the motivation.

03 YouTube - Some great content but terrible platform. The algorithm encourages extreme political views, it's full of ads and Google despite absolutely raking it in decide to be twats about ad blocking, misinformation flies free whilst good information gets false flagged as misinformation. System doesn't allow for fair use of copyright content. I try to see if a creator is on any other platform if possible

08 Reddit - despite the API twattery I still love Reddit for the most part. The technical and other niche subs can be really useful. People are sometimes arseholes when it comes to downvoting comments they disagree with but nothing is perfect.

01 LinkedIn - I don't have anything against it particularly and it's a good place to have a professional social media profile for when you're job hunting but otherwise it bores me to death. It's for the kind of people who play golf.

03 Tumblr - Never really got into it. Heard it has a lot of extreme views including on "our" side (writing essays about why you're a terrible person who should be publicly shamed if you forget they go by xie/xiey pronouns or such like) which only fuels more hate from terfs and bigots imo. I have seen the odd good twink picture blog though....

-05 Pinterest - I don't want an account and I resent it for taking over Google Image results and then being behind a registration wall when you click on it.

-10 Parler - Twitter for actual Nazis, who are so far gone even Musk won't have them.

00 Threads - no idea never used it no desire to if it's just more Twitter.

02 Mastodon - A good idea but a double edged sword. Great that you can pick a server with good rules (like "no TERFs") and moderation but this also makes it a huge mess due to fragmentation. I find it hard to get into it. I should post a little more as it serves as a honeypot for a friend who's a bit overly nosey (and previously relied on clicking into the replies section of my Twitter to spy on me) and so makes him less likely to play private detective and find all the web forums I post on.

Yes I'm bored

I've really gotten into Instagram since this rate. Endless supplies of British Shorthair cats 🥰 The comments section is still shit but I get it, it's not designed for that.

But my favorite is the SHOPPING. I've 'trained' the algorithm to curate the LEWKS I like at the prices I like.

My rate for tikTok has undoubtedly increased during 2023, I find it particularly HANDY for grown adults for STUFF like recipes for fit/healthy alternatives of junk food, Skincare product rating clips, Gym routines, Skincare routine hacks, laundry tutorials, and such. Yes, I am 87 years old. 9/10.
