Morning. One of least favourite things is bottles or cups rolling about on buses.

Cheers and thanks.

Happy Solstice, y'all! 3.57pm UK time is when the sun will be at its most powerful and most healing. Unless you're already sunburnt, in which case, give it a miss.

I've got the day off and was slightly tempted for at least 15 seconds to go to Avebury (bigger, I believe older, and just generally nicer than Stonehenge, IMO), but thought better of it. I'm not sure my stomach would be up to the stench of patchouli.

On the train. Someone in the seat in front having a work zoom meeting. I just heard him say 'I think we can accommodate that journey in the customer experience'.

The next time I hate my job I'll remind myself at least I don't have his.

I genuinely just shuddered, reminding me of the HORROR of that binfire job I was in before I went solo. "Let's have some blue sky thinking about the customer journey" is one phrase I particularly remember coming up a LOT.

God, I fucking hated that job. Thinking about it has made me realise I'm still not quite over it :D

That sounds like a fairly standard conversation we'd have to have at my job. :D Probably one of the less-cringey ones to be honest. We've recently introduced 'Agile working' and I loathe it with every fibre of my being. Pure management speak, time wasting disguised as efficiency twaddle.

Isn't "agile working" just flexi-time and remote working under a pointless new label?

I've never quite manage to define it beyond that...

That last job was full of ridiculous buzzwords. From "reaching out" to a "deep dive" to my least favourite, "low hanging fruit". Which they used to bang on about constantly without the fucking useless husband/sales guy EVER MANAGING TO PICK ANY.

DAYS AND DAYS AND DAYS spent in SHIT MEETINGS about building organisational charts for when we're a £10 million company whilst no one apart from me paid attention to the fact sales were spiralling down and we were only at £1.5 million turnover anyway.

Oh god, I'm spiralling... :D

Agile working as we're defining it isn't the same as flexible working, it's an ages-old management and delivery technique that mediocre middle managers love to introduce to look like they're doing something bold and effective.

Basically it involves spending half of your day in pointless meetings with name like 'SPRINTS' and 'SCRUMS' (:zombie:) talking about the work you need to do while paradoxically ensuring that you've got no time left in the day to actually fucking DO IT.

We've had it introduced in about three places I've worked in the past decade, and it ALWAYS fizzles out after a few months when everybody realises what an utter pain in the arse it is, so I'm just going to have to ride it out.

Bloody hell, I've just had an email saying our energy prices are GOING DOWN :o

We have "Agile" at the moment. As far as I can tell, it involved sacking half the management team (the half with experience i.e. the higher paid ones) and then talking about it a lot before eventually doing the bloody obvious that everyone had been hollering about for years. It's just "Lean" under a new brand.

Before I got to the end, I'd already started typing, hold on, isn't that just "LEAN" :D

My best friend is (or really was) a SCRUM MASTER, which always makes me laugh

I thought of you this morning when I realised the date! Although it always fills me with a bit of sadness when I realise the days are getting shorter now :( I love the 9:30pm light evenings.

Just had a packet of skittles. Is there any cheaper high? 60p and I’m absolutely buzzing.
:( Skittles are a forbidden food for me. Just like Blackjacks, Refresher chews, Drumstick lollies, Opal Fruits and Wham bars, if I'm eating them I'm losing teeth or parts of teeth.
