Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Friday Night Disco

Ooh do you know I NEVER really investigated the Wanderlust/Familia remix packages.

Added those two and will check out. Any more recommendations?

Her version of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie not being on Spotify is such a missed opportunity. Tagging @aquaplex

Her brilliant version of Duel IS there though!:o

I think she used to try to be a bit of a bitch. I remember her saying something about the importance of distance between her and her fans.

China Heart was particularly good this week. She sounded so good on that one.

I'm wondering who takes over camera duties when Richard does his guitar bit on Murder. Do they have uncredited live-in HELP?

I was wondering the same when I realised all the non-infants were IN FRAME :D

I struggle to keep track, but is there not a kid between poor haunted Sonny and the 8 year old, the four year old and the baby that we seldom if ever see on camera?

I thought she had 5?

She definitely does, but I'm sure I've only spotted four getting involved in the disco. Sonny generally lurks in the background holding the baby, and then the 8 and the 4 year old do a lot of dancing.

I'd be surprised if she was anything other than lovely to be honest, because with the (by her own definition) talking posh and looking weird, the knives would have been out for her for years to prove the opposite, unfortunately.

Don't Leave Me This Way :disco:

(though not completely convinced this is the best fit for her vocally)

Her discos are a bit early

give me Today the suns on us, after dark

She really is a Disco Diva to no end! To capitalize all this, she should do a 70's disco cover album. She could make 70's Baccara versions of her own songs, and something, say, Like a Prayer (which she already sang here), with a tasteful, not too modern production. All with a disco twist.

Sophie and the Family Von Trapped felt a little subdued this week, bless them. Much as I love it on record, something tells me Magic won't be making the setlist for her 2021 provincial kitchens tour.

So she went THERE and did Catch You tonight. Also definitely not a fan of 'STAY ALERT'.

Also loved Mickey's lightsaber fascination, a mid song 'say sorry' ticking off and the Hot Chip cover.

Which of her notable hits has she still not touched on yet?

I think she only has I Won't Change You left, which I imagine she would do quite begrudgingly (and Move This Mountain but I wouldn't say that counts). She'll be doing theaudience soon.

Has she done her #3 Get Over You yet? I don’t recall but could have been not paying attention. It shows how popular she was at one stage that she could take that song (which I do like) to the top 3.
