Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Taste (+Perimenopop)

Layers is my immediate highlight.

I was kind of surprised when Freedom Of The Night popped up to remember it was on this album and hadn't previously been on one.
 
Jade's album is certainly more arresting, but I'm pleased that this album is pretty much up there competing for my attention since Friday. She's not really treading any new ground at all, but that furrow she is ploughing is still managing to hit a sweet spot. I think she has lovely lightness of touch with pop lyrics about love.
 
Album seems pretty solid if not electrifying after the first couple of listens. It feels like a bit of a beach day album.
 
And say what you like, but for her to be in her early seventies and still releasing new pop music is something to be applauded

Apparently she told somebody at one of her signings this weekend that she’s looking at the feasibility of launching an ANTI TOUR :disco:

Bet she still refuses to play If You Go.
 
This was quite a cute chat. They must get along pretty well if Sophie’s been posting her album over to Australia for Dannii.

still at 5 with 8740 sales as of today's mids - so it should scrape 9k by tomorrow
 
9,505 sales.

Familia opened with 5,107 and as mentioned Hana did 6,015 so she's on a nice little run of increased sales from album to album.
 
I see she's touring Europe and the US through to November and has a few dates in Australia in February. I assume she'll have a bit of a break after that.

I'd totally be here for another Christmas Disco tour in 2026, though.
 
When you think how her LAZINESS used to be a bit of a running joke...

All those festival shows this year, album promo, podcast and radio sidelines too. There's apparently a deluxe coming as well.
 
I still haven’t bought the album. It’s really lukewarm for me on the couple of listens I’ve had. Shame…

I don't think that whipping through those pictures so quickly makes for a pleasant watch.
 
It's a safe bet. She's definitely made soft references to difficult sessions with him, and I don't think they worked together after the Trip The Light album.

The only other guess might be Gregg Alexander, but I'd assume warmer feeling there, especially with Murder.. having done much for her than any of the Xeno stuff.
 
Sounds like Xenomania to me as she’s alluded to it in the past. Gregg cropped up on albums one and two so I doubt it’s him.
 
I'd imagine in 2010 she was probably still in "WTF do I do now" CAREER DESPERATION mode.

Now she's comfortably set up for life as queen of kitchens and bathtubs, she can be more selective.
 
She's no doubt had 15 years of vastly different experiences since to reflect on as well.
