St. Lucia

Another new one, and put this also in the "I'm not quite sure" category on first listen... it's lively enough, they're definitly going for a shift in sound that incorporates a lot of 70s sounds like glam rock and psychadelia, I'm not sure how it gels with the synth production but I'm still looking forward to the album. As it goes, the Aly & AJ track has since grown on me massively!

I have the vinyl on order but looking forward to giving it a listen this weekend.
 
I’m fully prepared to not like this album as much as Utopia but I can appreciate that this album (so far) has been way more creative. If their process means they keep putting albums out every couple of years, then I support it!
 
I was sadly, disappointed with the album, but I was expecting it. I don't think it's a bad album at all. I think there's definitely a market for that sound and it's sonically interesting. The one song I saved for later was "Going To Space"
 
I’ll take it, I didn’t love the album but I’ve become a bit obsessed with “Going To Space” (all 8 minutes of it) so at least I have that!

What do you think of the new one @FetchFugly ? I was loving it from the first few seconds and then I was bored by the middle. It's so repetitive! There appears to be a nice VERSE in there but it doesn't kick in until 3/4 in... they seem to be really fixated on quirky song structures lately and it's seen a drop in quality IMO

I take it we're still getting another album later this year.

 
Giving It Up is ok but feels like an interlude that has been stretched too far or a song that hasn't been fully fleshed out
 
I do like this one quite a bit.

However, while I don't usually have a problem with his voice, there are part, specifically in the second verse which are a bit challenging. I guess he is going for the emotion in the lyrics but you would have thought they might have listened to it and thought it was worth another go.
 
I'm much more excited about this album now since the release of "People Change"
 
More than a touch of 00s indie disco about this one. Was expecting Brandon Flowers or the lead singer from Electric Six to join in at any moment
 
Nothing on the album as good as "Summer Nights" or "People Change". "Into The Sky" and "Out Of The Ashes" have been saved for future listening though.

Biggest crime is throwing away "Oh Daddy" as an instrumental intro. The production on it is bloody wonderful, I was waiting for the vocals to kick in and then it didn't go anywhere :evil:
