It's gone up from 30 to 17 on iTunes again is well - I'm guessing just from the buzz of being top 40? Either way it's great to see - with the video and then album promo if it can float top 40 on sales for a bit would be ace.

Did this actually happen? I wonder if it was a blip, because it's down to #49 now.

It is in the Official Top 40 playlist on Spotify now though. That has 103k followers, despite only being launched a couple of weeks back. Hasn't helped it trouble the top 200, though. It's unlikely to get another week in the top 75, I'd have thought.

Yeah I think my iTunes shat out, oops.

I see it's on a couple of playlists but as you say not enough to push it top 200. But that's fine, album week with some performances it should do ok.

Video is out April 7. Whilst it seems a while away it does make sense - they aren't exactly going to set the singles chart on fire, so to blow their load completely first week (video and single released together, tour announced and on sale) would then have left about 6 weeks prior to the album of nothing. At least this way it can create a bit of a buzz again as the album comes up.

#79 on airplay from the last chart.

Being Radio 2's record of the week should launch it up next week to a decent peak? Possibly why it's holding as well - #51 on iTunes so essentially a non-mover since Saturday,

It's just hitting 400,000 plays on Spotify. Which isn't too bad is it? That's about 33,000 a day. Takes about 38k a day to be #200 so assuming most are U.K. Plays then it's not too far off being in the Spotify chart most days.

Nothing amazing or anything, but showing some promise for when the video and performances come.

Whether it was 12 seconds, hours or days, they got a more legitimate #1 out of it than most, which makes it already untouchable as far as I'm concerned. The video I'm imagining is going to be all kinds of fan service.

I do hope in the final big chorus it has Claire wailing with Faye dramatically slagging it up over a bunch of disco balls

Thinking about it, if they are clever, the best form of promo will be some sort of documentary/tv show to celebrate the 20 years. They could easily do a Audience with type show on ITV Saturday night.

Indeed it would. They must have something fairly decent lined up, the album announcement was handled well.

#32 on airplay this week. Pretty good for them. All down to radio two, but if it gets it out there then that's fine.

#75 on iTunes. Not so bad overall - it's been out about 20 days. I'd say it'll slip another 10-15 with Friday new releases and then hopefully stay in/around the top 100 when the video drops next Friday. Then each promo slot (This Morning, Mrs Browns Boys, No doubt 2-3 other shows) in April should hopefully send it flying back up to the top 40 given how weak sales are.

Remix EP out now. #25 on iTunes albums.

I've only bothered w/the 7th Heaven mix, the rest didn't jump out at me.

They really should chuck a cd single out the same week as the album. A remix single would get them a few thousand sales, surely.

(Presuming cd singles actually count towards the chart)

Yeah I heard it last week and was underwhelmed, but figured it seemed the best out of the lot.

To be fair, aside from about 5, their remixes were by and large rather shite. Considering how good they could have been.

I think giving H a good kicking up the cunt counts towards the chart these days. Not if you do it more than ten times though. That's just for the satisfaction.

There's no need for a remix when the single version is THAT good :disco:

Their individual bits I think look great. Especially in the middle 8.

But the dancing, despite being quite a cool dance, looks a bit limp and out of time.

It'll do though.

The choreography is quite limp yes. I know their thing has always been that it's easy to follow, but there's no trademark move in there.

I think it's marvellous for what it is...it's a Steps video in 2017 for chrissakes- the likelihood is they had hardly any budget for it, it's not going to garner much airplay anywhere and I think it keeps true to "Old" Steps. It's no classic but I'm TOTALLY onboard.

Some of the green-screen stuff is laughable, the routine is underwhelming and the gold outfits are shit. The spacing between members is off at various points as well.

I like the red outfits and the middle section.

And the fact that it exists at all.

Oh yes, I'm just thankful the song is amazing and am banking on the album being a blinder. Videos were never exactly amazing from them anyway aside from a couple of decent ones.

I thought Steps videos were always pretty decent for the kind of act they were

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the dance was shit, it makes them feel old. The solo bits of the video are great though, Claire is looking the best she's ever been.

I can't believe I'm getting the album in two weeks.

Oh god yeah it's a shit video but no more shit than any from their heyday and I figured they'd be working with a limited budget anyway.

I just really hoped the choreo would be iconic. :(

They were at #80 last night and now up to #54 on iTunes, so at least in the two hours it's been out it's helping. The fact the single hasn't left the top 100 in it's whole 29 days is actually much better than I'd thought. Be nice if it could be back top 40 tonight.

Would be nice if they could dance that very difficult routine in time :D

It pains me to say it, but Claire's cheekbones look amazing. Lisa looks terrible (and I wouldn't have it any other way). Faye looks astonishing, like Debbie McGee if Paul Daniels had sold her off to a Middle Eastern magician, H's transition into Bob Downe looks almost complete, and they might have turned on the lights for Lee taking his shirt of.
