"Stranger Things" Season 5

What everyone else said really. I LOL'd at them crowbarring in a big moment for Winona, but it was kind of fabulous. :disco:

The plot holes though!

As if Linda Hamilton and the evil soldiers would have just gone "Oh well, BYE THEN" and left a whole group of people fully aware of a fucked up goverment/military conspiracy that had cost dozens if not hundreds of lives and gone terribly awry.

I know the end was pure wish fulfilment, but how would Mike even have know all the stuff that went down with Kali? He didn't witness any of it!

And how the fuck did Hopp keep his job…

The Duffer Brothers have said there's a spin off in the works but set in a different decade, with different characters, and will continue with the mythology of the Stranger Things Universe. I think Hopper mentioning moving to Montauk might be a clue as that's the location of the real life experiments similar to what El went through.

Unless David Harbour is going to be FAT and TOPLESS for the whole thing I’m not interested.

During the Hopper/Joyce proposal scene, I just wanted the club singer to switch into PUSSY PALACE and warn Joyce to get out while she still can.

One of the major plot holes for me (unless I missed something) was the lack of demogorgons/demodogs in the upside down? Especially in the final fight, it all seemed too EASY.

Did Vecna simply RUN OUT of demogorgons?

Why, when we saw him heal himself so easily so many times in the past, was Vecna done in by that single spike?

And wasn't Will also part of the hive mind? Surely he should also have been COOKED alongside Vecna / the Mind Flayer?

I gave up after episode 3, it felt like a chore and whatever magic the show had is gone.

El’s LIP FILLERS were genuinely distracting, I couldn’t see El the character anymore. MBB really went from being a prodigious talent as a child to a god-awful actress as an adult.

Although notably her strongest work was when she had no DIALOGUE so maybe she never had it.

I was on BOTOX WATCH most of the season when it became noticeable just how much the ‘kids’ had aged but I was mostly pleasantly surprised that they all looked quite natural - I wonder how much they were encouraged to keep their faces looking distinctly EIGHTIES until the show wrapped

I never actually noticed MBB’s filler until someone pointed it out, everyone is talking about it on insta :D

La Bush and Tiffany both back in the UK top 40 sharts this week, and Joe Keery (Djo) in the top 10.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Prince gets a mega-bump next week.

I assume it is our hungry 1980s popstars who are the most BEREFT of all at this show ending.

Eleven goodbye scene, and how did I miss Lucas doing JAZZ HANDS amidst the ridiculous slow-mo noooos.

I'd guess it's mostly that Landslide started from a higher base; as with most Fleetwood Macs, it does stupidly well on streaming (almost at 1bn on Spotify) so never far away from the charts even without the Stranger Things boost.

But yes, Purple Rain and Heroes both felt way way more impactful in the show itself. I can imagine people missing the latter altogether though; how many people skipped the closing credits after the giant 2 hour slog?

I loved all of it. I somehow knew EVERYTHING that was happening :D
Given all the hype, it delivered pretty well I thought? Unlike SOME SHOWS.

The sheer spectacle made it worth it. DIPSHIT DEREK was the best.

I gave up after season 3 cause I felt it was very childish for my age at that time. Decided to dive back in and watched seasons 4 and 5 over the past few days and completely loved it 🤷‍♂️

UK chart

Purple Rain #12
Running up that Hill #14
Every breath you take #17
Landslide #20
Upside Down #26
Heroes #34

Maybe even more notably Joe Keery (Steve) is #1, just defeating Taylor Swift, despite his song not even featuring in the show.

Which feels apt with Taylor being the musical world's answer to Vecna.

For one glorious moment I thought it was ONJ's Landslide then. How disappointing.
