Strictly 2025

I've just finished catching up with the Strictly launch show, it was a lot of fun to watch! 🪩

That was a much better opening than last year :disco: I liked Jessie J's dance haha, Chris McCausland is still a legend and danced so much better than most previous winners do 🌟and all of the pairings are rather nice, or at least well-thought-out..!

I also liked what Vicky said about having posture like a croissant, that is relatable.🥐

OT: Did we see Steve Irwin's son doing this as his first dance on the American one?

Fuck me, I feel old. So is he a celebrity by virtue of being Steve Irvin's son? Anyway, he's good!

Between him and Dylan Efron, DWTS is certainly serving the community this season.

I couldn't be arsed to watch Strictly last night, and it's a watch live or not at all for me. If my mum missed I may see if she fancies it on iPlayer later this afternoon. Not too bothered about missing the launch show anyway.

I think I remember that last year's fell off by quite a bit so guess they'll be happy with that.

The Mail Online story says how the ratings are the same as last year, but as last year the ratings were down on the year before this is still a flop :eyes:

Not even trying to hide their agenda, get in the bin.

What was the point in recruiting Thomas Skinner Evil if the Mail are STILL going to have a bitchfit

It's also a stupid criticism. In this age where media consumption is becoming increasingly diversified with every day, there's not a TV show in the world that can reasonably expect not to lose viewers vs years prior.

Thomas posted on twitter yesterday that he was receiving death threats on Twitter, then the post was deleted and now people are saying he sent them to himself from a burner phone. :eyes:

If true then the guy really loves playing the victim and getting all the attention. :D

Where did he say it? Didn’t quite catch.

True or fake, it's such a strange pushback in the first place

"YOU'LL NEVER FIT WITH THE STRICTLY FANZZ" as if 50% of the Strictly viewership aren't also Daily Mail readers or Facebook warriors who start posts with "I'm no racist but..."

Will they have a replacement for her, or will they just carry on as they are?

CD ant imagine they’ll be happy to lose Nikita - nor Nikita to lose pay

Love that she says she had a fall, like an old nanna <3

I didn't know her (other than the name) before, but found her quite delightful on Saturday's show, in a Donna Noble / Stacey Solomon GOOD EGG way.

It feels a bit tight to parachute someone else in for Saturday, but then there is the risk of being left too short at the end of the series by another calamity befalling someone else (or Skinner managing to go too far in some respect).

The first dance doesn't have a vote off does it? So if they acted today, they could potentially still parachute someone in for the second round without too much drama?

Someone get Hannah Ingram-Moore on dial STAT

No vote off but the scores from the judges carry over for the leaderboard. I suppose they could just double them.

Five women, eight men and La Voix competing. There’s never been a significant gender imbalance like that before, has there?

I guess that Lewis is the likely winner now.

I think Lewis always was the likely winner, even pre-Dani

I'd imagine only Vicky or Ellie may be his real threats, or if George somehow also turns out to be very good and splits the "what-a-nice-young-man" vote.

One Love Islander for another. This one has a West End background though.

Also did Dancing On Ice only last year, which I don't think is ideal casting wise, but I guess NEEDS MUST

Rather inevitably, Stefan's first dance is apparantly to

the Neighbours theme.

I fully imagine they have Down Under lined up for week 2.

Oh well she’ll be good. She’s just been announced as the new Elle Woods in the tour of Legally Blonde. I’ve been listening to Amber’s West End podcast recently. She seems quite lovely. I never watched Love Island when she was on, but saw her in The Great Gatsby earlier this year.
