Strictly 2025

I wasn't going to read the spoilers this year, but like a sailor dragged to the rocks by sultry mermaid Nancy I just clicked that and
OMG.Jimmy not as surprising, but I thought he had another week or two.

Delighted for Balvinder. I thought it would be her V Ellie and she'd have the depressing fate of being saved from a third consecutive dance off, and knocking out a nice lady with Down syndrome in the process.

Speaking of demoralising dance offs, based on Dancing on Ice I'm expecting a lot of Amber dance offs, but really though they would be closer to the end of the competition.

George was one of my favourites last night. Could have been better, but it was NOT bottom of the leaderboard material. It was fun! And he looked great!

Big fan of La Voix and Alex Kingston, even if not up there with last week's Rumba for the latter. I hope La Voix will be the Pete Wicks of this year, getting very far on viewers' votes alone.
 
Someone on my insta has suggested Victoria Coren Mitchell and Jane McDonald as presenters and now I'm going to be absolutely gutted at whomever gets it as it won't be those two.
 
I think it’s time to scrap Icons week now,. It’s a little bit rubbish and they’ve already run out of genuine icons to depict.

And once again change Couple’s Choice back to be Jazz/Modern/Streetdance. Freestyle should be saved for a final show dance only.
 
Although obviously ridiculous, I'm not actually surprised at Amber already falling foul of the dance off. One presumes she must have been dead last in the viewer votes to have ended up there.

I did think it would be sooner rather than later that either she or Lewis appeared in the bottom two. The others all have demographic niches and/or dedicated fanbases to keep them going, but Amber's is cannibalised by Vicky, and I suspect the horny Lewis vote by George/Harry. These two are going to live and die by beating each other specifically for the evidently tiny section of the audience who vote on ability alone.
 
I honestly don’t know anything about Vicky though. She’s probably nearly 10 years older than Amber and Amber has a very successful career outside of reality TV with over 1m followers on Instagram. I don’t think they’re the same demographic. I honestly didn’t even know Amber was a Love Island contestant in the past.

I’ve been giving a vote to Amber every week apart from this week because I thought the dance wasn’t that good and the song didn’t even suit the dance.

Or have a separate couples choice week as it should be an equal playing field of naff to stand out from if the ability/teaching is there. I think it's too uneven and unfair as the judging is even less consistent than it already is.
 
I don't know how much Internet celebrity translates to Strictly still. It obviously does for George, but he'll be an exception to the rule assuming his following will be rabid 18 year olds who will vote feverishly even without watching the show.

For Amber, I'd assume it's the Love Island part of her following that more likely watch Strictly rather than her Insta followers. And that Love Island / ITV2 "hun" demographic she would share with Vicky.
 
It’s the musical theatre following online that mostly supports her and they tie-in with the Strictly viewer demographic. She is rather well liked in the community.
 
I assume "bobbing for apples" is the very tenuous leap they've made, but I also assume it's just Soda Pop all again where a BBC executive has googled "what do the adolescents like?" and then scoured every Charli XCX song title to work out what they can shoehorn for the internet person
 
I don't think Apple worked terribly well for the Cha Cha. The routine seemed to be a lot about HER too.
 
If she doesn't get Claudia's role next series then I suspect we'll be seeing LA VOIX'S BLANKETY BLANK at the very least.
 
I thought it was very good for La Voix but those three nines...

Admittedly going to eight for George didn't give Shirley and Anton anywhere to go I suppose.

Tens will be coming for Lewis and Amber.
 
I obviously love Stay but poor Balvinder following Lewis AND drawing the Halloween Rumba.
 
Has Dave Arch, his band and amazing singers ever released an album? I think they are always fantastic.
 
The dance off still feels inevitable but that was a better job than I feared. And smoky eye sailor Julian worked for me.
