Strictly 2025

:(

I enjoyed that show much more than the actual semi final weirdly.

Balvinder got a lovely goodbye, and went out raising her game again. Amber seemed to dance better than in the main show too.

Kylie obviously. And the ballroom dancing in front of James was a little surreal but so charming and joyous.

The 'surprise' segment with Tess and Claud was well done too. Craig was the right one to lead it.

That was a wonderful semi-final 💗 the Tess and Claudia montage was sweet (and fun to point out that neither can really dance haha) and that clip of Craig

Knowing Balvinder was in the dance off against Amber it was quite obvious she'd be going (and lovely choice of Céline's Because You Loved Me as the final song). 😌💕
It did feel like an honour to have seen them both (aw even Julian cried) get this far, in spite of 6 dance-offs, and perhaps more televised dancing than any other Strictly couple. ♡

Now (and have done for a while now) I really would like Karen and Carlos to win. 🤗

Oh and regarding Amanda Holden she's more basic yet melodramatic musical theatre songstress ✨️ (and works well with Alan Carr but they should stick to the show they've already been doing together).

I agree with Rita that she is nearly the opposite personality to Tess :D who comes across more reserved and polite, and stable. Amanda's reserved side seems kind of like a protective mum figure as Shoat noticed; also very likely to be caught swearing on a live show 😅 (I remember it on a live BGT show for some magic act with Ant and Dec always having to apologise haha).

Oh I didn't realise Carlos was gay 😅 (I think they're both 🏳️‍🌈♡)

(Edit: 20 viewers, most probably thinking I'm not right in the head for two reasons XD)

STABLE :D

Actually I'm re-thinking, and if we can get an unstable deranged version of Holden, I could get on board with her hosting.

To think we almost lost Bal in week 3. As arduous as her journey has been, it's probably done an awful lot for her public profile. In an alternate world, she could easily have been a forgotten mid-tabler.

I'm firmly team George now. Mostly because I think that's the result the show wants the least. But I do also think that added to Ginge winning I'm A Celeb, it might really throw cats amongst the pigeons. The middle-aged having to accept that internet celebrities may now firmly be in the mainstream. The uproar in the Daily Mail comments sections. Broadcasters having to work out how to integrate such people and their followers into their contests without guaranteed insta-wins. It could be very interesting.

Chris (the guy who went in Week 3 I think) often shared clips of him and his wife watching Strictly, they were always really supportive of Balvinder and glad when she went through each time. 💛

I included that for a reason :D

True, though on Twitter and with some current Eastenders watchers, Bal and Heather Peace (as Suki and Eve) are a big thing 💗

Holden can be amusing but she had a quiz show airing before Strictly in the first part of the series and I caught the end of it a couple of times. I saw enough to know that she should not be anywhere near the Strictly hosting gig.

She is the polar opposite of Tess Daly though. She is not suited to the job, but she does have so much more personality than Tess. I found the comparison puzzling.

Sorry loves, if you want similar to Tess and Claud it has to be Holly and I am not sure who could replace Claudia as she has so much charisma.

We don't want similar! (You're right that Claudia would be too difficult to emulate, so they really shouldn't try to)

And we definitely don't want EVIL HOLLY!

I say they should go completely left field (they won't). Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox!

I can't think of two hosts that will be able to replicate what Claudia and Tess had. They should really use this as an opportunity to revamp the whole show but I can imagine they'll probably keep the same pros and judges so there's not too much change for the audience.

I don't think it would necessarily be wise to revamp everything all at once. Part of the enduring appeal of the show is that it's so comfortable and you know exactly what you're going to get. Changing too much is just asking for trouble - look at all the outcry on social media this year just because of the way they tinkered with announcing the results.

I do think it's probably a wise move not to attempt to replicate Tess and Claudia, so I'd ve surprised if they changed too much of the rest. I imagine they would keep at least two of the current judges, always assuming they decide to do it again.

As far as the professionals go, again I'd be surprised to see too much change, and I'd say that would be the least important element anyway. Particularly this year where it seems that some of the longer running ones have left earlier, and the newer recruits have performed better.

Just watching Kylie looking utterly resplendent. Song is Daphne and Celeste levels of drige you can't help but feel compelled to go along with through the absolute presence of the performers. Strewth Kylie, the Hot December one is multiple levels better even if I sort of grudgingly see how this is a more pandering type of a bop.

This is a good bottom two to finally say goodbye to dance off barnacle Balvinder. Did like the ensemble and (sort of) 2 Gloria Estefan numbers to boot.

Whilst I did enjoy George's bottom, and look forward to Human next week, I found his routines so twee and basic.

Oh James. Totally underrated. He's been bald for ages, but maybe it was the fur that shocked me when I looked up. Slightly Right Said Fred of him.

Do you think they look alike? Amanda Holden is as far away from Tess Daly personality wise that you could get. :D

Amanda and Carr would be very tolerable to me. I don't like her on her own, but she can bounce off Alan well. Tess is just so unfeasibly inept it would be a joy to have any Amanda if given a side kick upstairs who could generate what Claudia and Alan do.

He has just flown back from Melbourne for the Strictly final. I asked him if he'd recovered from his injury and he said he had. But he said it was such a shame as when it happened, he was just starting to get the hang of it and everything was falling into place.

Every time he pops up in the opening credits it blows my mind that he was this year's series

AGOG at no Skinner. Who'd have thought he'd flounce off after his meltdowns and rants about having ever done the show in the first place :(

I do wonder how far Stefan might have gone ordinarily. I feel like he had a couple more weeks left in him, but I'm not sure he was ever going to do better than a mid-table finish.

Alexis guested on the George podcast this week, and it seems the Ghost of Martha Skidd LOOMED as they spent the first 30 minutes discussing people SHITTING, PISSING, and VOMITING over themselves. I think the Daily Mail brigade really will be very pleased if they win.

Is the final all in one go on Saturday or is it over Saturday and Sunday?

Skinner is allegedly SUING THE BBC for rigging the vote against him.

There go any future appearances on The Wheel.

Where on earth has he got that idea? Is he just trying to pay tribute to Trump?

If the BBC didn't want problematic right-wingers on their show, they wouldn't have cast Skinner in the first place. When did he watch back his dances and conclude he was unfairly eliminated? He rigged the vote against himself by dancing like an 86 year old porpoise.
