Strictly 2026

I only recognised Will Best.

I think I knew Lacey was totally opposite to Stacey, but it was still a surprise.

On a similar note get Dame Pam StClement on.

Emmerdale Man and Internet Man were the only males I recognised

I'm also getting confused with Bonnie Langford

I'm not convinced either the toothy blonde or very intense Italian are suitable replacements for Gorka.

In my head Ian Wright is not old enough to have a middle-aged son, but the internet tells me he is in his 60s and fuck I've just had another "we're all old" jumpscare.

Based on very little evidence so far, Emmerdale and Jowita feel a good bet for make the final stages

Alexis and Julian have both potentially flown a long way for a brief holiday

Ah I quite liked that launch show! 😊🪩 I was actually watching on a telly whilst away at uni. :disco:

Emma, Johannes and Josh are a decent presenting trio! So far the couples I'm looking forward to are Bethany and Nancy, Delta and Kai, and Sarah and Julian. ✨️

Obviously they're no Claudia and Tess (Emma is far better suited to hosting other shows) but it wasn't bad overall. I liked the dancing to find the partners thing but repeating it after intervals was a little harder to follow somehow. 😅

I'd have expected a decent kick off rating because people will be curious, the test will be in the next few weeks I guess.

I imagine the BBC will be be relieved at that figure, but agree that the acid test is next week.

The first show proper for the past few years at least has always performed significantly (in the 1m - 1.5m range) better than the launch show.

The launch show last year consolidated to 6.552m after 7 days and 6.809m after 28 days.

Love the revelation that Lacey is dead posh. She was absolutely giving IRL Pam St Clement :disco:

The launch show's always overlong (here it was lol when it cut to a feature going behind the scenes on the launch show that we were STILL WATCHING) but I enjoyed this overall. I liked the 'pros walking in to different rooms' reveals of the last few years but the three dances were a lot more fun.

The new pros dance was fucking amazing and I'm on board with the new hosts. I love Josh's Archive of Pop Culture podcast and think he'll be good fun here.

Strangely I was under the impression that previously the contestants had about 3 weeks for initial training before the first proper show, hence the partner reveals being pre-recorded. So is it only one week now or has it always been that way?

The show was recorded on 9th September so they still have 3 weeks training

I liked the New Jack Swing banger version of Bug-A-Boo.

It felt very over-long, but I was also shattered watching it tonight. I think they could make the partner pair-ups even more chaotic by having them somehow race for the pro in an almost musical chairs way, or if 2 choose the same then having the pro choose between them. Or maybe this would be rotten. I just didn't think it was fully realised, but good for them having a shake-up.

No one watching Strictly then? :D

This isn't working for me I'm afraid. The thing about the show is that you tune in knowing safe pairs of hands are at the helm (even if one of them was Tess) but watching tonight has been excruciating....the dynamic is off.

They really need to make the call to stop having Johannes trot out that 'you can vote next week' line while the couples are coming upstairs. He is drowned out every time.

How will I KNOW-URGGGH

I think I may need to rewatch Lacey considering the raves. It was hard to compete with Vito in full flow.

I love Johannes but he is the one struggling the most. His questions to the couples seem to wander all over the place. Maybe they would have been better starting him with Emma, leaving Josh to chat upstairs.

I have read this 3 times and it still doesn’t make sense Ed hun. Are you inebriated?

Katya working her magic with 16 million followers man. Unexpectedly good.

Edit: the 8s might have been pushing it based on how they've been scoring tonight.
