Good morning. Washing in, Parallel Universe on, tidying up partly done.

Good morning! It started off nice and bright and dry here but it has now descended into torrential rain. I've also got washing to do but can't get it until Mr F wakes up (bedroom curtains). I've no reason to leave the house today so it's all good.

The garden squirrels are deliberately skewing my nut-results. Today the walnut went first, then two hazelnuts and they've left the almond and brazil nut. I also put a green grape out to see what happened, that's been dropped in the middle of the garden, I really thought they'd like a grape.

The ones in the wood behind us definitely seem to like hazelnuts best.

I've tried them with broccoli stalks as well (if I'm not planning on throwing them in a soup), but that's a bit hit and miss.
 
I do like giving them black sunflower seeds, because I love how they hull them where I left them and you can see all the shells they leave behind. With hazelnuts they must cart them off and crack them elsewhere.

Apparently sunflower seeds aren't great for them though, which is also a shame as they are much cheaper than nuts.
 
Oooh I never waste a broccoli stalk. Just boil them up and eat them with the broccoli.
 
I’ve just put my decorations up. Well, halfway. Waiting for Mr Sheena to do the tree lights (I absolutely refuse like a petulant child) and then I can finish the tree.

Have A Charlie Brown Christmas spinning and a debating a snowball. The wind and rain outside is making it a perfect stay in day. Might even watch a shit Christmas film later.
 
Hi Moopy. I'm back from my cruise and convinced I have covid. Either that, or the worst cold/flu I've had in a long time. I'm annoyed I don't have any tests left.

Also, hamsters are really shit pets. Can I interest anyone in rehoming biscoff 🤔

Why would they leave a Brazil nut but take the hazelnuts? Worst nuts ever.

I don't like eating them with the florets, for some reason. So if I'm planning a soup, or a slicing them in a stir fry I'll keep them. Other than that it'll be for the squirrels now.

I figured it would be something to do with hazelnuts being indigenous to England so they know they're good to eat but they won't have come into contact with many, if any, brazil nuts so might not know they're a nut.

I love hazelnuts, brazil nuts and almonds but walnuts are awful. I won't even eat them on a walnut whip.

I'm just getting over it. I wouldn't have tested myself but it just felt more than a normal cold.

I've grown to love a walnut recently after I discovered our maple and walnut fudge...been making it for two years and only recently liked it. But walnuts are quite bitter.

On the island, squirrels are a national treasure. But I believe it's because ours are red. And so very rare. Whenever I go to the mainland I love seeing the greys but often get told they're vermin :(

Same! This feels so much worse than a normal cold but I have no tests to confirm.

A lot of people think like that but I also love rats and had many pet rats, not sure I'd want wild ones in the garden but I'm pretty sure they stick near the local takeaways round here as it's easier to find food than foraging in a park.
 
I was having a day of chores and after an hour (of admittedly good progress) I’ve lay down on the bed and had a rest

What the fuck is wrong with me

I need to sort out all my winter clothes and put away a load of summer stuff and figure out what I’m packing for London. Doesn’t it just unearth more work though, now I’ve got bags for laundry, bags for dry cleaning, bags for charity, bags for the bin.

Someone make it stop! I just want to wear some nice big jumpers, not turn the house upside down :evil:
 
Been watching the KLF DVD that came out on Friday. They were mad buggers, so they were.
