Does it fit your life better, though?
What are the pros and cons? Presumably the salary is the biggest con - but what about the pros in terms of less commuting time? More time with the children? Less stress (presumably)?
If you can make it work for you financially I'd consider it. And try not to see it as a demotion - it's making your job work for your life, not the other way around. You've proved you can do your job bloody well - just carrying on doing it for the sake of it is a fool's errand. There's no shame in stepping back to something which could make your life easier. On the contrary, it's an empowering decision to make.

It sounds like the decision making/power aspect is the thing you need to think about most, particularly if in a new job you'll be having to ask permission to make decisions where you know exactly what to do, or deferring to people you know you're more qualified than. You always have such a good way of looking at things. I don't know about the money, I don't actually think it'll much of a drop, and if anything I could potentially work 2 more hours a day if I'm not traveling as much. It is about the power - I never thought I'd be saying that! I just like that right now I can do what I want to help someone without having to get things authorised. I can make changes to make things better just off my own back. But at the same time the travelling is exhausting me. If I could pick up my work and move it closer I would be happy.
I hope you're not using isopropyl![]()
Isopropyl nitrite is the ingredient that can mess with your eyes, so you want to watch out for it. It's also what all poppers you can buy in UK shops will be made from due to the laws around them, so if you're going to use them you're better off importing some made with different ingredients. Is that the one that paralyzes you? I read something on reddit about poppers awhile back and some of the posts were so casually extreme.
Well that's where you and I very much differ. You're still ambitious. Even allowing for my advanced age, I never was. If that is important to you, obviously you need to consider where you'll be best placed to do it.It's kind of annoying because I feel for the next maybe 7-8 years I feel like I could do with an easier work life balance while they're young. And then after that I think I'd really want that power to feel like I've achieved something with myself. But then maybe in 7-8 years time I could have worked up to that in a new place. I think I could achieve that in less time even.
Oh I wish it was driving because at least I’d have my own space. The train system in this country is such a joke that - apart from a Friday- I don’t think I’ve ever been able to sit down on the train in the morning. And then when I get to London and onto the tube it’s the whole sardine thing. The slight positive during the pandemic was that the trains were so much emptier.Do you drive or use public transport?
At least with public transport like Rachey says, you can just put on music or a podcast and zone out. But it is fucking ridiculous.
I know I’ve been only been sent to a variety of awful places around London, but my experience with the trains has been complaint-free so far.Oh I wish it was driving because at least I’d have my own space. Fuck that. I did that for two days and was appalled.Mine is 90 minutes each way everyday and I swear it’s gonna be the death of me![]()

I get up at 5.30 daily and I don’t even go running at weekends. I have been a terrible sleeper ever since I had children.
I was hoping I'd get back to good sleep at some point.Ooh this is exciting!!! Photos please.Just been offered a pair of cats to re-home and I'm very excited! I have about a week to get everything I still need now.
I used to sleep until 9am easily, until heathcliff got sick. Now I'm wide awake at 6am every morning even on a day offI look at you guys and think the opposite. Why are you all awake so early on a Sunday?? Pre kids I would never be out of bed before 10:30am.

My flatmate is playing All I Want For Christmas is You. I can't take two months of THIS.
Kill them. It would be considered merciful.
