Sunday has a Satanic funeral

i'm trying to think of a thread to start in the History Forum and am drawing a blank :(
If you need inspiration, these are the books on my reading pile. Probably not!

I mean he's fine to look at but apparently had a toxic personality.

omg Moopy what do you think of this apartment:
Like it. Lots of light, good view, big kitchen, balcony...

Little confused as to why there's a doctor's waiting room included.

I’d change the tiled floor in the living room, but it could be made very cute, stonking views!!!
yeah the view is beautiful, and the area is dead nice. just not super busy or buzzing, but all the similarly priced places in south belfast aren't great.

Yeah the tiles are fug.

As I've got older I've come to appreciate NON BUZZING AREAS.

I wish my SHIT HOLE street was less buzzing.

I hear sirens and loud motorcycles every nice and it’s honestly not that bad. I’ve gotten used to it

Oh the dual carriage way nearby isn't a problem, neither is the school. While it's hardly a shanty town, it's a Victorian terrace and there's about 50 houses within a stones throw, many of which provide a variety of noises.

Oh and antisocial behaviour. I've witnessed some grotty shit, including dog fights, stolen cars, street drinkers, numerous drug deals, homelessness... all on my 35 house street. One neighbour murdered someone. It's ENDLESS.

What I'd do FOR PEACE. Yet for one reason or another, we've stayed 7 years!

I didn’t realize I was lucky to avoid dog fights

I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing. I'd just come from seeing a show in London and was confronted with THAT.

I think my street is EXCEPTIONALLY trashy.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same myself. My street was the old racial dividing line and it still divides the city financially and somewhat racially. It’s million dollar condos one block over and homeless tents one block the other direction. It’s very odd

Obviously we don't have QUITE the same segregation issues (that I'm aware of). The seven bedroom houses with private pebble drives, gated estates, village greens and stunning original art deco cul-de-sacs all within 5-10 minutes walk do make the shit we have to put up with quite hard to swallow.

I've spent my 20s living/working in big cities, I've been living in the countryside for almost 3 years now and the peace and quiet here (at almost all times) are wonderful. I don't know if I'll ever go back to living in a big city at this point - something really, really good would have to come my way to make that choice.

I always think about 70 percent of me would prefer living in the countryside if I knew that I some close friends around me. I just know I couldn't right now as a 28 year old single gay.

I wouldn’t mind a second home in the country. Of course the first step would be being able to afford a first home

Of course the grass is always greener. My mate lives in a field and there's a host of other issues with countryside living.

See, I moved away from all my close friends and family for my job, so none of them live nearby at all. Then I worked for 18 months like a crazy person, then Covid hit, so I haven't really built up a new circle of friends in the three years I've lived here. That part of it isn't ideal - but I also love where I live now. I'm kinda hoping that with things like joining the tennis club and Covid hopefully slowly fading into the background, my social life will change and resemble the social life of a 33-year-old again. Dating will always be a bit of a struggle around here, though. :D

Plus it sounds like we'll be given 5 days of home office each month when things return to "normalcy" because everyone's been doing a good job during covid. So that also opens up lots of possibilities e.g. for me to drive home for a couple of days, see family and old friends without having to take vacation days all the time.

this is it, I think it's probably easy to make friends anywhere given a bit of time and effort, and I'm sure you'll be flying once you're able to do activities and join groups.

part of me is a little jealous of my friends who are in similar boats to you or have even been told that they'll be given even more freedom to work from home post COVID should they wish to. I like the idea of being able to retain a job you're comfortable in but travelling elsewhere to work digitally. Teaching doesn't really give you that option, bar a few angles. But then I remember I have the opportunity to travel and work if I want to, and I wouldn't be great with losing the social side of work, as much as Sunday nights are the absolute WORST.
