You'd think I had never done outdoor sports event in July based on my arms, neck and nose today. :zombie:

Morning!

Sun Skin GIF

I still have peely bits on my arms from weeks ago. I have a big cycle planned for tomorrow so the intention is to slather up (and maybe buy a helmet - it's a cycle path on an old railway so not on the road).

I got very sunburnt kayaking yesterday :(

But omg kayaking is so fun and relaxing! We saw a couple on a paddle board with a little dog in a life jacket <3

I know this is frowned upon, but I don't wear a helmet if I'm just on a cycle track/old railway line.

Got an acceptance email to work on a fixed term contract for a state job two days ago, and the deadline they're giving me to reply expired last month. Now they're closed for the weekend so I can't contact them to ask them how do they expect me to turn back time and inform them of my decision. I really hope it's a typo.

I haven't so far, it's more for sun protection to be quite honest. I only get annoyed at people on the roads without them, or like today where 2 cyclists went side by side on the road despite there being a cycle lane and not one of them in it.

It sounds like a typo?

I never understand why people choose to cycle on the road rather than the cycle lane next door.

Important COB STAIN update:
That's possible too! Luckily I've managed to get a friend with a carpet cleaning machine to agree to pop over tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed it comes out :disco:
This worked! It's now impossible to tell there was ever a stain there. I think it says a lot about my current fraught state that I almost feel like crying with happiness about this :D

And now I'm off to B&Q to get a replacement on a faulty toilet brush I bought yesterday. It really is just non-stop GLAMOUR here :disco:

Over 40 degrees in the UK would’ve seemed like an insane proposition only a few years ago.

I just slept for 11 hours, I can’t handle having drinking and staying up til the early hours anymore it throws my body clock off!

A friend sent me a message this morning telling me she was going to visit a rescue cat with a view to having it. She's a crazy cat lady and is far too emotional about them so I messaged back asking whether it was the same cat as she posted on Facebook yesterday and, if it was, she should give it a miss because reading between the lines on the advert it sounded like a naughty, vicious cat. I then went on to say how it'd break her heart if the cat didn't show her any love back or she had to send it back because she was covered in scratches and bites from it and that it wasn't her responsibility to rehome all of the problem cats because it just upsets her when it all goes wrong. Then got a message back from her saying it was indeed that cat and she's brought it home with her. Ten minutes after that and she's complaining that the cat is hiding in cupboards and getting itself stuck.

Why didn't I just ignore the first message?! I'll never learn.

I saw one GFS chart this morning that had 49c on the north French coast?! SURELY NOT! :D

It'll start "averaging" out over the next few days but the fact that GFS even simulates it is brutal. Will probably cone down to 36-38-ish °C which is still ridiculous.

I performed the very rare trick of sitting in the sun for hours yesterday and not ACTUALLY burning.

Normally my big old nose takes an epic hit, even with 5 layers of suntan lotion.

Was just out for a lunch, we were sat outside but got up to have a cigarette away from where people were eating and stood a couple of metres from the table, then, despite several tables being free, two women arrived and just started clearing our table so they could sit at it?!?! There was food and full drinks on the table. It was so deranged I can’t make sense of it. They thought we’d left, but even so, why not sit at one of the several CLEAN tables that were there?!?

32C in my room. Spent the day melting (partly in the virtual arms of a certain someone but still)

One good thing about the weekend being over and going back to work - they have AC
