I was 11. I remember us watching the news and then my Dad phoning ahead to Rhyll Sun Centre, where we’d been planning to go for a day out, to make sure it was still going to be open on account of her being the Princess of Wales.
That was about it. I don’t ever remember my parents expressing an opinion one way or another about the Royal Family, so while it was obviously shocking, I didn’t really experience any of the intense emotional reactions some other people did.
I think the reaction was probably quite muted in Liverpool generally to be honest. Not really a particularly Royalist part of the country.
