Sunday takes a shock lead in Iowa

I'm also still in bed.

I had my ears pierced yesterday. They're sore :(

Also I found out that the government are lowering the stamp duty on buying a home to £125k next April

This is a GOOD THING
How is it a good thing for me, wanting to move and buy a home when I'm already struggling with being able to afford much 🤔

I mean if I'm missing something please let me know, cos to me it just seems like I'll be paying an extra £3000 ISH for a home 🤷🏻‍♀️

Unless it brings house prices down...

I’ve been up and about for HOURS as I had a quiet day yesterday. Boxty and poached eggs for breakfast, a batch of scones baked, lentil soup is on the boil and a rib of beef joint now slowly cooking away for Sunday lunch. The house smells delightful.

You'll need a proper economist to explain what the expected effect is, but I believe when Truss changed the limits the expectation was it didn't bring the price down and just increased the profit of the seller.

Pity it is just me, my son and his girlfriend who will be here for Sunday lunch. I have made a tad tooo much.

Aldi done. Mr Ag has a bad leg, so thankfully we're not going to the in-laws fireworks display.

Feels like a day for a book and cooking. Either a sausage bake or pierogi tonight.

What a GLOOMY day.

I’ve been on a “use up the freezer” drive and so have taken out something that could be chilli or might be casserole for dinner. THE EXCITEMENT.

Currently on a Linda McCartney pesto burger for lunch must have been in there since I was veggie, so is at least two years old. :disco:

Although I really fancy a trashy page turner. Sadly I just have heavy historical tomes.

I'm reading a lovely book at the moment about an old lady widower who befriends a teenager in trouble with the law.

Back to work Tuesday. Having a sudden panic of "have I done everything I wanted to in the year off"? The answer is broadly yes, but I've had a big fuck off sort of of the shed and a good dump trip anyway. Feeling much lighter for it. :disco:

(I'm aware of how this sounds, no-one page Martha thanks)

next on the list is the JUNK DRAWER in the kitchen which I swear I sort out at least once a year but once again one can barely open it at the moment.

Our bathroom had an upgrade this week - white lights. The bathroom is completely white, so it's quite BRIGHT, almost medical. I covered the grout and tackled the limescale. It looks like a new bathroom.

We tackled the junk piles in the middle room yesterday and it looks a lot better.

Ignoring the spare room this side of Christmas. It's basically a junk room.

And that's MY weekly house update.

My new office has a lovely big bit of storage space so we’re able to clear out all the CDs and vinyl and packaging and stuff from my side hustle and move it to there, which is absolutely wonderful. Is going to free up so much room.

If you find it too clinical replace the bulbs with warm white rather than bright white, I found the same back when we changed our bathroom. The sight of me is already a bit MUCH in the morning but add harsh lighting to the mix it just borders on CRUEL.

Tell me about it. My skin is playing up at the moment, so the timing is terrible.

I’ve invested in some (quite pricey) skincare stuff and have a new routine. My skin has never looked better 💃!

I like a bit of shade in the bathroom. We have a huge mirror on one wall and I can't face my naked body in it in bright light.

I mean, I wash and moisturise most days, and normally look pretty bright and healthy. But I suspect a weekend of drinking and trash food has come back with a vengeance.

Yeah we just had yellow lights before. We never asked for this, the electrician just fitted them on behalf of the landlord. It turns out one of the fuses had burnt out. Fun!

I like low lighting. I rarely put the main light on in the lounge or bedroom. LAMPS LAMPS LAMPS.

We're lucky to live in a relatively big house rooms-wise but I really feel like we have so little storage space, much less so now there's a child in the mix. I feel like anything new just finds a spot on a shelf somewhere and sits there for all eternity. I'm sure I could be more efficient at finding homes for things, but I also like things like mints, lip balm, tissues, glasses cleaners, etc to be OUT, ready for plucking and using. It stresses me out.

It's the main reason I hate the dreaded WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS question.

I'm the same with Christmas, for HIM, particularly.

Everything is just STUFF that will HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE.

I sit halfway between. I hate STUFF for no reason but I realise I like STUFF a lot more than Mr Sheena.

I’m actively trying to use up rather than just throw out all the nonsense stuff we’ve accumulated over the years- things like beard oil presents (never used it) or free Moroccanoil hair oil samples from EVERY SINGLE EUROVISION EVER. It’s been quite cathartic.
