I realise pretty much everything about this pair is extremely problematic in the cold light of 2024, but my God this was a serve…

*BANG!* :disco:

Absolute banger. Better than all other tATu bangers.

I still seem to be keeping the two decade old tATu dream alive to the left, which has aged as badly as the rest of their concept and challenging personal views.

t.A.T.u.’s Representatives Could Not Provide Answers About What The Band Will Sing In Crimea

Jul 7, 2025
The reunited band t.A.T.u. is planning to give an exclusive concert on July 19th, 2025 on the beach stage of the Mriya Resort in Yalta. URA.RU contacted the representatives of the artists to find out what songs the girls, whose repertoire has long been outside the scope of Russian laws, are planning to sing.

Julia Volkova’s PR manager was unable to give a specific answer to the corresponding request. “It will be in line with the law”, said the singer’s representative succinctly. When asked what songs fall inline with the law, since all of the band’s hits are “on the edge”, she hung up the phone.

Lena Katina’s rep announced that as of now there is no final list of songs which will be performed. “I have not yet seen the playlist. Once it is formalized, then we will know”, her manager explained.

t.A.T.u. was created by producer Ivan Shapovalov. The duo existed from 1999 to 2011. The girls were remembered for their provocative songs, including “Ya Soshla S Uma” and “Nas Ne Dogonyat”, as well as their daring outfits. The band’s success was built on provocative behavior and playing into unconventional love*. The group’s lyrics correspond. Now all of this is prohibited by law.

Former Rebels t.A.T.u. Set Strict Conditions: What Viewers Will No Longer See

Jul 7, 2025
t.A.T.u members Lena Katina and Julia Volkova have introduced strict rules for their joint performances. The artists have refused kisses, hugs and flirting on stage.

This decision is dictated by compliance with Russian legislation. Performances will now be held under the “10+” rating. According to the Telegram channel Mash, the singers are ready to follow these restrictions in contracts and pay fines for violations.

In regards to the financial terms of the reunion: the fee for a joint concert is 10 million rubles (~$127,000). For comparison, Katina’s solo performances are estimated at 1 million rubles (~$12,700), and Volkova’s are at 1.5 million rubles (~$19,000).

The return of t.A.T.u. was officially announced on July 2. Volkova published a joint photo shoot with Katina, announcing new projects. At the same time, Lena Katina’s representative clarified that she will continue her solo career in parallel with her band’s activities.

I did think the anti- Putin comments seemed a BIT unlikely…

I feel like if I respond, the follow-up question is going to involve me providing my bank account and sort code and/or clicking a dodgy looking link.

They're such wicked, wicked women, but I simply cannot argue with the sheer melodrama of that middle eight.
