I probably prefer 2 hands for now but this is also a bop. It’s getting comparisons to Buttons/PCD, which I can hear and welcome

Oh this is absolutely wearing the Buttons inspiration shamelessly, but that's NO BAD THING in my book :disco:

I don't really follow Tate as haven't heard anything to date I've been massively invested in, but this is easily her best song to date for me. It jumped out on NMF. I'll give it a couple more listens to see if it's a keeper.

I can't imagine sitting through a whole Tate album at this point but I do like this much better than the last two singles.

I don't really care for her and this Buttons knock off is alright but it's off to a great start

I can’t even believe I’m saying it but this is absolutely incredible.

The fact that she had the AUDACITY to whisper the entire chorus? I don’t even like her music but this is dripping in so much sensuality that I can’t help but be on board.

THIS IS THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR OMG
I feel sick to my stomach at the fact I may agree.

The absolute audacity of the whole thing is too much for me.

To whisper an entire hook is without a shadow of a doubt one of the cuntiest things I think I’ve ever encountered.

It's giving PCD Buttons
It's giving Britney Blackout vibes
The album is shaping up to be this decade's Loose :eyes:
and why are people so shocked at her whispering the chorus, Ciara did it first with Goodies (and then with most of her singles) and I'm here for Tate's Espresso moment in 2025.

Why do I get the sense she's being heavily stage-managed by 30-something homosexuals to relive an era of pop music she was barely sentient for?

The comparisons to Buttons completely put me off (I hated it)

This actually turned out to be much more listenable in a terrible brain rot way

#21 debut on the Hot 100. Climbing fast at radio and stable on streaming so wouldn't be surprised if it's top 10 in a couple weeks.

#8 debut in the UK.

The album is out next Friday. So Close to What. Shit title but hoping the second post is the cover. Wiki seems to suggest it’s not sadly.

Album is out today. “Revolving Door” is the focus track:

30 million debut on Spotify Global. In the US, Sports Car jumps to #9 and Revolving Door debuts at #8.

Revolving door video is great, hopefully sports car continues to take off though.

It's a good song, but as ever, marred by Tate's insistence on forever performing with that affected mumbling teenage girl vocal

I mean, the album isn't BAD but, business as usual, 4-5 are very good songs and have already been released as singles :eyes: and the rest are just slow-tempo mumblecore 2-minute songs. I guess Ryan Tedder was running out of steam by then.

It's definitely better than the previous album and that's saying a lot.

Updated cover art on Spotify and new bonus track “Siren Sounds”

rubbish artwork. I think her team has too many cooks in the kitchen.

the music's not very good either

The album artwork nonsense (or something else?) caused big gains for the album yesterday. Sports Car is #9 in the US and Revolving Door #7. Global positions below:

And HITS updated its opening week projection to 150k+ in the US

sports car #3 in the UK (and revolving door a #10), album in at #2
