I'm sure the bonus track shenanigans alternate versions are coming at some point, but those deluxe versions say 12 tracks like the regular album.
 
The short tracklist, no Jack Antanoff, and the emphasis on UPBEAT POP!!! do all feel like very deliberate responses to criticism, so I'm looking forward to it even if it's giving Flop Era a bit. I'm sure she'll be back on her bullshit as soon as this is over :bruised:

Everything about this sounds GREAT.

Max Martin? Shellback? 12 pop-driven tracks? Her going in with more of a persona again after the (overly) personal TTPD? Into it.

It's almost certainly at least partly an age thing for me. I want an album as a complete piece of work rather than a collection of tracks, and I've never bothered even starting with that album, as it just felt overwhelming looking at the tracklist.
 
I thought Midnights was BORING and didn't even bother with the extra tracks with that. TTPD felt much of the same, though I loved a couple of the songs.
 
Oh I liked Midnights just fine, but I didn't get the hype around it. The way some Swifties went on and on about it like it was some kind of masterpiece....
 
To be honest the only extra tracks I have time for are the 1989 ones. Am I missing anything?
 
I actually generally find that ANY of the Midnights or Tortured Poet tracks are totally acceptable if you listen to them in isolation. Individually they're all at least a 7/10, there are no stinkers.

It's when you chuck them all together in a 40-track goliath that it all merges into a monotonous ORDEAL.

Nothing has been confirmed. Her last album was also announced a couple months ahead of time but we didn’t hear anything until release day so that’s possible.
 
Can't wait for her to discover the lyrics are about not wanting to end up a washed up drunk like Elizabeth Taylor...

I don't believe for a minute that the short tracklisting isn't simply a cover for a 35-track deluxe edition that will come two months later.
