Tea or Coffee?

When it comes to hot drinks nothing beats a quadruple cappuccino to start my day. I don’t hate tea, but pretty much like chamomile it's something I only drink when I’m sick or have a sore throat or tonsillitis.
For cold drinks, I still prefer a double freddo espresso over iced tea, but I’d pick iced tea over pretty much any other refreshment. 🤷

But I hate milk in tea. It's very insulting to both.

I only drink either if I need the caffeine boost after a 5am start, I don't drink them for pleasure.

If I'm buying from a coffee shop, it'll be an iced latte (no matter the weather) with caramel or vanilla syrup. My workplace also has a hot drinks vending machine that is free to use, and if I'm getting my coffee or tea from that, it's with milk and sugar. I've tried the non-sugar version of both (out of curiosity or because the sugar option had run out) and nope, not doing that again.
 
I don't understand people who have their tea strong and with no sugar. It tastes rank with no sugar and hardly any milk.
 
My go to espresso based coffee is a flat white served in a correctly sized receptacle.

It's because English speakers are often very dense. It's not really any different from saying pitta bread, naan bread, salsa sauce or ramen noodles, is it?

But then I live on the River Avon, so I'm comfortable with it.
 
Yes, I’m not sure I’d expect the masses to know what chai is if I’m honest so I might cut them some slack on that. However, what did infuriate me was when I once ordered a chai latte in a Costa Coffee and was served coffee and when I took it back the server argued that chai was coffee and couldn’t be told otherwise even after I rummaged through my stuff to find my phone for Google proof as a last resort.
 
I used to hate coffee and I've now got into it and I drink three cups a fucking day and spend way too much in coffee shops.

Tea can do one, though. WHAT'S THE POINT?

Oh yes, naan bread! That does my head in. I've never heard pitta referred to as pitta bread though.

If we're being technical about it, what people really want when they refer to "chai tea" is masala chai.

Get yourself an espresso machine and/or a V60. I am becoming increasingly fussy about coffee - most of the chains don't cut it and even some independent coffee shops are variable in quality. We recently acquired an Urban Baristas branch - that's great - Aussies tend to take their coffee more seriously

I swear a smoothie from Joe and the Juice literally costs a tenner. Absolutely nuts.

Anyway, coffee for me. I tried tea again a few months ago and I don’t understand it. It’s just warm milky water.

Yeah, they can fuck off. We had one open here last year. I went in once, looked at the prices and left.
 
I like Nero best out of the main chains- their coffee is definitely superior- but Starbucks is on my way to work with no indie alternative, so it gets the bulk of my business.

Costa is appalling. It tastes of nothing.
 
As I've said before, I can't be doing with Costa. ALL THAT BROWN.
 
Starbucks customer service is so awful that I refuse to go. Except they had a lovely little chocolate iced latte around Christmas and it really was annoyingly good :(
 
Costa is absolutely atrocious. I hadn’t been to one in decades but was forced into going to a branch in a hospital not so long ago and they served my luke warm flat white in the biggest cappuccino cup they could find. :manson:
 
I don’t drink coffee too often and if I do it’s a black Americano. Never EVER get tea from any of those places because none of them know how to do it properly. But Costa do a better hot chocolate than Starbucks.

When I was hospitalised over Christmas, Mr Sheena brought me in a latte he made at home in a flask as the Costa ones were so bad.
