Tennis 2025

So she's levelled, good going. Following the bbc commentary as not sure where I can watch that doesn't involve paying.

deciding TB here we go... :disco:

whatever happens here Emma has been stunning. that 13 deuces game was absurd.

in the drama stakes it has to be one of the three or four matches of the season. a thoroughly enjoyable edge of the seat affair. classy interview from Sabs at the end too.

A Sabalaneka/Raducanu rivalry I did not see coming but based on the last 2 matches this could be a thing. If Emma is drawn in the same section again at the US open it would be rotten luck, unless she can finally eek out the win.

Monica Seles has been diagnosed with a chronic neuromuscular condition, myasthenia gravis :(

Hopefully she is able to live as fulfilling a life as possible while trying to manage this.

Rybakina has an incredibly strange serve, she looks so ungainly. on top form today though, she knocked Sabalenka out 6-1 6-4 :o Iga awaits in the semis.

Sabs has been looking kinda flamed out since Wimbledon. Keys and Pegula both way off it too, so I don't know who my money would be on right now for the US Open title - probably Gauff or Swiatek?

Another Radu-slam. She only wins the toppermost titles. QUEEN :disco: :queenofthenight:

mixed doubles at the US starts today - it's so much fun! lightning fast, Swiatek and Ruud currently trashing Keys and Tiafoe

Medvedev has really fallen off a cliff since Wimbledon, but the signs have been there all year.

Same with Tsitsipas who hasn't been the same since Ivanisevic threw him under the bus.

Also a HUGE opportunity for Raducanu after Kudermetova was knocked out in the first round, her side of the draw is wide open.

Kudermetova being out is certainly good for Raducanu but she still potentially has to get past Rybakina In R3, or Paolini/Vondrousova in R4 before a Sabs rematch in QF. Although a more favourable path than previous slams I wouldn't quite say her side of the draw is wide open!

Ridiculous tantrum throwing from Medvedev. He's rapidly following Tits down & out of the top 30.
Are you watching on Sky? They only seem to offer a 2 year contract of £22 a month on top of your existing subscription for access to the sport or £36 monthly renewal. Trying to figure out if I’ll be about to watch a sufficient amount of it to justify £36 on top of my existing package plus cancellation looks like a pain in the ass.

Sadly not, seen the highlights only.

1961 Wimbledon champion Angela Mortimer (one half of the last all British final to date that year, defeating Christine Truman) has died aged 93 :(

A good innings & a very respectable career also winning Oz & RG.

yes Vika was looking sharp and up for it. not sure who she faces next but I always love to see her playing and winning. Emma sensational!

Thought there was going to be a physical scrap at the Ostapenko v Townsend handshake there. Toxic remarks from Ostapenko including saying TT had no class or education which she really needs pulled on. She also said just wait until they played outside the US and TT replied she already beat her in Canada, outside the US and in New York outside the US :goodgrief:

Penko is a nasty piece of work. and gag at TT saying she's beat her outside of the US "in Canada and in New York" :D :disco:

Maybe she should have kept that private and for sure, even if she has been improving a bit over the years, Sabalenka is definitely not the epitome of grace after a loss.

Sabs has worked on herself a lot post Coco-gate and I think she SHOULD tell the world what a fucking trainwreck Ostapenko is. :disco:

the actual clip is a pretty measured answer in a press conference though, not throwing her under the bus by any means.

Sabalenka absolutely was one of the worst losers in the past, a couple of losses to Pliskova in particular stay fresh in the memory, but I did say she has been improving. I don’t think it’s up to her to say someone else has things going on in their private life at a press conference. I don’t think she is being malicious though now that I listened.

I saw the press conference as well and it definitely didn’t come across as a malicious comment.

Venus and Leylah were a fun last minute pair in the doubles and put out the sixth seeds in straight sets in front of an enthusiastic crowd, good to see.

Raducanu drops only 3 games against Tjen, with Rybakina the likely round 3 opponent. Impressive stuff, although obviously the quality levels jump up considerably now.
Never mind. Emma won a mere 3 games. Getting Sabs, Iga & Rybakina early on in slams this year is pretty brutal though. Hoping she continues to progress the remainder of the season & can bag herself a small title for an added confidence boost.

Shelton clearly hurt his arm midway through the 4th. He can be pretty obnoxiously on court but as for Mannarino, all I can say is that off court he’s not that….nice.

I didn't see the match but felt bad for Ben in the highlights. I'm m just here for the resurgence of the older players like Mannarino and Struff, the latter of which deserves a good run.

Taylor Townsend keeps going beating Andreeva in straight sets. Mirra seems to have a problem with the crowd rooting against her, she did similar against Boisson at RG. Here for some old school serve & volley making a mini comeback though :disco: (no Nav I don't mean YOU)

TT plays Krejcikova next and I think she could win that too.

Kasatkina bagelled by Osaka in the first set tonight but just won the second 6-4 :disco: it's on! Naomi looks unsettled.
