Iga was always going to find some traction in the second half of the year, I'd say.

She's not in year-round "playing for each Slam" + RG heavy favourite prime but I wouldn't be surprised if she steadied the ship and gobbled up 4-5 Slams in the last years of this decade if she stays healthy.

I reckon she can get to 10, especially if Sabalenka is entering her mild flop era.

in other news Carlos will play the USO while Sinner is confirmed to miss it with injury.

in rather sexier news Fils fucking destroyed Cobolli. for a 6-3 6-4 he was so superior. he's gonna win the final I think, regardless of opponent

I hate that reddit video won't embed. they always have great clips I want to share here.

Fils could end the year knocking on the door of top 5 having not even played the Australian or the French and flunked out of Wimbledon R2. camp!

this match has fucking flown. poor Francis must've thought he had a great chance after that second set...

Fils is so fired up. I predict a big US Open for him.

poor Pegula looked absolutely exhausted out there tonight. Gauff wins 6-2 6-4. they stay 3 (Jess) and 4 in the rankings.

the amount of shots of him bent over waiting to receive... made me wonder if the cameraman was ONE OF US.

Serena and Carlos is blockbuster. he's warming up, but rusty, she looks really really sharp. iconic pairing tbh.

US Open draw is out. Berrettini vs Wawrinka is a juicy first-round tie.

big names in the four quarters of the women's draw:
1. Sabalenka, Shnaider, Kostyuk, Noskova
2. Pegula, Paolini, Svitolina, Muchova
3. Andreeva, Anisimova, Jovic, Eala, Gauff
4. Swiatek, Keys, Bencic, Osaka, Rybakina

3 and 4 could deliver some great matches! I wonder if Rybakina will actually play or withdraw injured...

Arthur Fery played in his first ATP final yesterday (the 250 in Winston-Salem, lost to Buse), so here's hoping that Wimbledon run wasn't just a fluke!

Starts against the gorgeous Lorenzo Musetti at the USO - not ideal, but out of all the seeds to possibly draw, this must be one of the least bad options considering Musetti has faced injury struggles this year (and Fery is ahead when looking at the 'race').

I don't know about everyone else, but I do fancy a new WTA #1 at this point, so let's go Elena!

that's a really very winnable game for Fery against this version of Musetti. could come down to whether he's tired or not.

my USO predictions

men:
Shelton wins
Jodar runner up
Djokovic, Auger-Aliassime semi-finalists

women:
Pegula wins
Gauff runner up
Sabalenka, Osaka semi-finalists

This prediction is WILD.

Is Alcaraz going to win this right out of the gates after being injured for months?

Cause to me, picking Shelton is a plausible enough outcome amidst a sea of uncertainty.

All we know is it ain't Novak. :)

Oh wow. I could foresee a relatively early exit for Novak by his standards, but I expected it to be to Nakashima in round 4.
