I highly recommend his film Benediction from two years ago, if anyone wants any wartime bumming.

I love House of Mirth. The way it starts off like a fairly standard issue 90s costume drama about which rich man the beautiful society girl will marry, only to rapidly descend into utter bleakness

Also any movie featuring Laura Linney playing a stone cold cunt is always worth the price of admission.
