I remember reading a Sharleen interview where she was utterly BAFFLED that this was in their top 3 sellers, and questioned why it couldn't have been Summer Son.

In Our Lifetime slightly better - peak of #4 vs #5, and had a bit more staying power in the top 40.

I remember it being HAMMERED on radio, and it also benefitted from simply being the lead single, whilst Summer Son only got its turn after the album had already sold a fuckload

I quite like it, it has a warm melody, I miss the days when a low top 10 would seem like a 'flop' for a band like this.

I still think this is their best album. Generally I prefer their bluesy acoustic stuff to the motown stuff, but here is the exception. It all pulls together beautifully and is a sweaty, summery, sultry ORGY of an album

It killed their chart career, and if that had hadn't happened, then perhaps we might have been spared Sharleen's solo career regurgitating sodding Xanadu. That in itself is HIGHLY OFFENSIVE.

But really it's just NOT VERY GOOD and not very self-aware

They were obviously trying to repeat the success of the Wu-Tang collab, but that felt like a more spontaneous stroke of unexpected genius, whilst this screamed trying-too-hard
Sharleen by this point had established herself as a very preened and polished pop star, so suddenly pretending to be a hungover student in the video didn't land. Dad-dancing with Kardinal later on didn't help.
And the chorus is plain FLAT.
