This was feckin' brilliant.
I sometimes find Martin McDonagh stuff a bit too broad, but this was an absolute tour de force. The script crackles with hilarious one-liners, it's beautifully poignant in some places and unbearably tense in others. If there was any justice, Colin Farrell would walk away with the Oscar, though I fear the sentimental pull of Brendan Fraser's comeback is going to prove too strong...
How nice, too, to see Kerry Condon aka daffy Octavia of the Julii from Rome in a genuinely meaty supporting role.
