I've tried that and it's given me totally different areas. And I believe in @Alex 's case at least he's posting from a different area than his result indicates.

It was the pronunciation ones I found a little confusing to answer - I had to say them out loud and then answered the way I think they should be said, not necessarily the way I do. Not that either is particularly 'correct'.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one who switches accent and pronunciation (and perhaps less likely to use local slang) depending the situation and who they are talking to.

Technically that's called the backings because it's between the yards of two streets of terraced houses. A ginnel is a funny little path that cuts through from a street to a park for example.

I’ve never heard backings but I’d use Ginnel in both examples

Interesting quizzes I know this was nearly 2 months ago but I did take the British-Irish dialect quiz back then, and tried the American version today too:

I hadn't even heard of Saint Peter Port (in Guernsey) before this quiz, haha. I'm from the Midlands (I don't have a recognisable accent, but I like doing impressions;)

New York I was expecting - Honolulu, Hawaii is nice

I tried this shorter Beano quiz for British accents and got Brummie (Birmingham) which is a bit closer location-wise
