The Brits 2020

Paloma is wearing a similar outfit that my Grandmother wore to my first wedding.

The only thing this is showing me is how little I know about current music. How depressing.

I'm getting inordinate levels of joy from seeing Tina Cousins' name displayed on mainstream TV in 2020. I hope this is entirely in advance of a shock Sex On Fire 2020 live performance.

Did Harry Styles come as Prince?

Although at least Prince would have got his nips out.

Courtney Love :o I wonder whether anyone else on stage tonight was in Jeffrey Epstein's address book?

I must live in a complete bubble. Who the fuck are BRING ME THE HORIZON?

ANYWAY, shit band name alert.

This Billie Eilish performance is rather sleep inducing isn’t it? I like the song for what it is, but not he best to see performed live.

Am I allowed to say I was a little disappointed by Lizzo? The whole thing felt like it never really got going for me.

Perhaps in just an old cunt trying to be woke, but that Dave performance felt like a moment.

Has Billie Eilish got Burberry nails? Danniella Westbrook AGOG

Is Burberry now BACK? Or is it just these young Americans who weren't around in the late 90s?

It better not be. I didn't wear it first time round and I'm not about to start now. I'll forever associate it as a chav's wardrobe staple.

I spoke too early we are getting a bit of Mary Mary. Best I’ve heard ALL NIGHT. :disco:

Love it - she looks like Burberry dressed a womble.

Her whole aesthetic is so "fuck you, I'll wear what I want" and adding money and brands into the mix has done nothing to change it (cf. the Chanel suit that looks like it was made out of someone's curtains for Giant Haystacks)

Other halfs mum was watching this last night. We were receiving regular short messages expressing how unimpressed she was with it. :D

"Don´t know any of them", "Why is there a 20 stone girl in a swim suit", "Celeste, terrible"

BRITs wins TV slot but ratings dip

Overnight ratings for the 2020 BRIT Awards show a year-on-year audience decline again.

The awards ceremony, screened live on ITV, won its slot from 8pm to 10pm with a 20.5% audience share, down from 22% in 2019. The average audience of 3.8 million was down on last year’s 4.1m.

The audience for the show featuring performances from Mabel, Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Dave and Harry Styles, peaked at 4.4m. Last year’s show peaked at 4.8m.

ITV’s BRITs show also had a strong 41.2% share for 16-24s, not far off the 42% for the 2019 edition.

The ratings have fallen in recent years, reflecting the wider changes in consumption for TV, although that hasn’t stopped The Masked Singer pulling in 6.4m viewers for its final. In 2018, the BRITs had 4.5m people watching the show, while three years ago it was pulling in 5.5m viewers.

Of course, linear TV is not the whole story. A positive reaction to the revamped BRITs ceremony and the big name performers should help deliver decent catch-up figures.

I wonder how well it will perform on catch up? It strikes me as one of those shows you either watch live, or not at all.

And I'd have thought any 'positive reaction' to the show would be more likely to send people to YouTube for the performances, rather than watching the whole thing. Once you know the winners, why bother watching the whole thing?

I can’t see why anyone would want to watch it on catch up or live, for that matter, but who am I to judge?
