also some of the best use of pitched down vocals on dance music I've heard since that trend was wildly overdone in the mid 10s.
 
No but at this point I kind of have to start raising the question... could this possibly be her best album? (?!???!?)
 
Are we entering the COMEDOWN PHASE of the album? I'm not ready. Someone pass me a key.
 
Fragile is a real SHIFT. I wasn't overwhelmed like I wanted to be at the start, but the bridge or whatever this bit is where the strings and piano kick in is really working for me.

I do appreciate the change in gears though. It is indeed very ROL coded. Not just the production and the Frozen-esque rhythm, but the ethereal vocal.
 
It felt a bit too Miles Away at first, in a good but not great way, but by the last chorus it was seeping into my veins.

her vocals on Fragile are great. I think it's hilarious that she actually isn't that diminished vocally - she just makes people speculate that she is by singing with grills in.
 
The transition into Saviour is magnificent. That use of strings was stunning. And this BEAT fucking hell!
 
My Sins is SUCH an Erotica throwback. like what have we DONE to deserve this. it's also giving Justify My Love.
 
Gentle and plaintive. Good for the Soul is a nimble disco token dissected by drum n' bass and understated strings that really bring it to life for that finishing straight. Those stabbing, guzzling flourishes at the end.
 
My Sins Are My Saviour is quite Bedtime Stories, which is great if you like that sort of thing.
 
I think it's her first album since Bedtime Stories that gets better and better as it goes on. and has a much stronger second half than first. most of her albums go off a bit in the last third.
 
Betrayal is the least necessary track so far but still works perfectly in context. I can't believe there are still two tracks left. This is lovely.
