*phew*. Glad I eventually found my fellow 'Betrayal' haters. 'BYL' was another that was a low point....

I'll give it a HEALTHY 8 and a most welcome return to form.

I really like how the first 20 minutes just flows, and some of the stuff I didn't like so much completely works in context and becomes greater than the sum of the parts. After that I think it probably (with some more listens) actually holds together for about 30 - even Read My Lips works here. I don't like the one about the brother, or the one with the daughter, they are both a bit blah sonically and I may be in the wrong mood for the various sentiments. The two heavily sample based tracks - and I think this is key when sampling - I don't like as much as the original songs they are sampled from. The Army of Lovers one in particular. I very much Like L.E.S Girl at the end.

One listen sort of in the background but mostly enjoyable! It's a bit old fashioned but aren't we all, while simultaneously feeling young fresh 'n new in places.

A tad bloated, and I prefer the more obvious cuts at the moment, but others in sure will embed. One towards the end almost has a Madame X production feel to it (but I know names yet, soz)

Glad she's gone in this direction and seems to be having fun, seemingly given up on the Bitch I'm Madonna persona.
 
If it's old fashioned then I long for the good old days! What would make it modern? Sub 2 minute songs?

I literally need somebody to be bringing a sound system to Dean Street and playing this album from start to finish at Pride this weekend like happened with BRAT in 2024
 
The only song I don't really care for is Read My Lips, which at least sounds like a more accomplished Hard Candy or Rebel Heart campfire moment. And yes, some people really do need to be told SHUT YOUR MOUTH so already the song has its uses 💅
