The Confessions II first listen thread (1 Viewer)

I have to laugh at 🎶 You had a nervous BREAKdown 🎶

I could also very much do without her musings on love, life and death, but at least it’s not as objectionable as the dreaded RAYE :zombie:

It seems like she’s speak-singing in the same octave the whole time which is fine if that’s just where her voice is currently but it gets samey fairly quickly. Verses are interchangeable song to song as they’re pretty much all a similar tempo and level of vocal oomph ie negligible.

I won’t be keeping many tracks from this as I’m not a particular fan of the genre nor artist and I only really listen to singers so it’s not really for me but clearly it’s a quality release and for her to have pulled it off in terms of critical acclaim and widespread fan elation is no mean feat. A cause for celebration one might say 🥂

The end of Danceteria is by far the best bit, and that includes the do-do-dos.

Are we listening to the same album?

You're being very unfair, she does occasionally try a different octave!

It is UNWISE when she does, but A FOR EFFORT

it’s like she was writing Love Sensation, then Sabrina called her back, and she finished it on Bring Your Love :disco:

I might prefer LS though…

It's SO GOOD I had to download Grindr again, now that she's gone so I can get FUCKED to it. Well done, Madonna.

I love the cohesiveness to it, no Isaacs or Like It Or Not interrupting the experience and no sign of FADO or any Portugal nonsense this time around  :disco:

The Grindr co-lab is made even more ridiculous when you consider she’s got a song moaning about people not going out (and sitting in front of their screens basically). She should have hooked up with SNIFFIES instead.

I'm not a fan of Betrayal. It's a bit plodding. And a bit mean, no? I appreciate the Battle of Trees crossover though.

I spent a long time with Betrayal yesterday because of the lyrics. It's terribly sad and, yes, seems a bit mean with her Dad still alive, but ultimately there's the "Oh Father" payoff- "You didn't mean to be cruel" in "It's not because you never loved me", "I hope that when it's over, I still think of you" etc.

The album's most painful lyric for me, though, is:

This is the part I hate the most
The words inside my heart

That's just terribly sad. But then I guess that's the whole point of Fragile anyway.

Betrayal is absolutely fascinating in its cruelty. We don't know what the reasons are of course. I only really know her from In Bed With Madonna where she was very careful to be extremely nice as if walking on egg shells around a bit of a monster ego :D I love it though. I can't yet post in the rank thread - I honestly don't know where to start. The extremity of hitting her Madonna jackpot stride is still rendering me completely stupified to unprecedented levels of see-my-booty-get-down.

Would an actual tracklisting have been too much to ask for? The 'insert' has all the titles but not in order! What absolute wank!

“Take the hammer, hit the nail in” is a tremendously cold lyric…

Right, I think I've worked it out now...it's just really badly designed.
