The Confessions II first listen thread (1 Viewer)

She's lucky this is actually really good because the packaging would have been enough to piss me right off.

Mind you, Danceteria being Vogue II is a bit meta.

OK, it is, at minimum, very good. I like that there are a few softer tracks at the end but I'm not sure if those are the 'extras' or if they're distributed around the tracklisting. The Madonna album least likely to be in a chazzer for two quid by the end of the year since Confessions I, probably.

today I think Betrayal > My Sins. it's a bit beefier as a song. and the horns.

Glad I didn't read any of this thread before my first listen cuz....baby some of these reactions are a reach.

Overall, there isn't a single track I dislike. There's so much energy and variety throughout the record. But the poor vocals (and the questionable production hiding it) ultimately flatten most of the songs. The best tracks are the least vocally demanding ones. Danceteria is the climax of the album but also loving One Step Away and Love Without Words.

The hypocrisy and fragility is normal and to be expected from Madonna stans. They're the FIRST to cry "misogyny" and "ageism" but see how quick they resorted to woman-bashing other female artists the second their insecurities are exposed. I ALWAYS knew their faux-feminism was a bullshit front to cover her flaws.

O… k.

Just to clarify: no one is bashing any other artist here. It is a well known fact that vocals diminish over time when singers get older due to wear and tear and age. It’s not ageism to state it; just biology and mechanics of the job. Male or female makes no difference.
Tori Amos has three backing singers on her tour to hit the notes she can’t hit anymore.
Madonna chooses to use vocal effects.
Two sides of the same coin.
My objection to the comments is about singling Madonna’s vocals out when most of her contemporaries are in a similar position. And yes my response was flippant but no more so than anyone else here.
But if it came across as pitting women against each other then I apologise. I can only speak for myself.

It's not about pitting women against another. It's about the bullshit SELECTIVE feminism Madonna stans wheel out every single time, and it's so fucking tired. When valid critiques around her voice/dance/ideas are made it's "ageism in the industry" and "internalized misogyny" but you had absolutely no qualms making the EXACT same comments about another ageing woman's voice.
Our new member Fanny was basically bullied for giving their opinions in the original album thread. And y'all tried the same fakeass arguments a couple of years back when you absolutely could not cope that some people think Madonna is shit.
You're not standing up for women or misogyny. You're just insecure.
If Mariah's voice is fair game, then so is Madonna's body.

So misogyny is sometimes ok, even though it's never ok, even though in the right circumstances it's acceptable, but it's not.

girl. no. don't be so fucking disingenuous. some people (me!) said Fanny was being relentlessly negative and I'd stand by it. Fanny gave it back and then some! stop acting like you're standing up for the great oppressed when you're pissing your knickers about some mild fucking Mariah Carey shade. please!

horf horf!! sure. now let's move it right along because you're embarrassing yourself!

Anyways, I'm gonna go listen to Danceteria. Might also splice Mariah's vocals over it dunno.

ALL mentions of "misogyny" in the last 5 pages of this thread btw from the lips of @K.C. himself.
That’s the part I am trying to get past. :D

The Mariah comment was benign, a bit catty at worst but it certainly struck a nerve.
