Well, this is going to be an absolute bastard. The only song I would actively cut is 'peace' which is undercooked - I think Aaron Dessner said that he sent the music over as a starting point and Swift came back having sung over the whole thing. I went for 'exile' because I think Bon Iver's a twerp. Other than that, it's a bit like choosing which Peanut M&M you're going to eat first, leaving a nice hefty looking one to the end.

I'm amazed that the votes are so concentrated in the 2nd half of the album. All the best stuff is from "this is me trying" onwards.

'hoax' is a great closer - 'the lakes' takes away some of its gentle power, as does being preceded by something equally stripped down.

If I was being a picky bitch, I'd remove peace, put the lakes after epiphany and close with hoax.

sure, but lyrically it's one of the best pieces she's ever written. it beautifully showcases her insecurities, more so than Anti-Hero. let's do some fathoming.

"would it be enough if I could never give you peace?'" is such a sweet and haunting line. as long as Joe is with her, he will forever be the target of the scathing media and Swifites.

lyrically and melodically it's brilliant. every little verse is just beautiful.

the devil's in the details, but you got a friend in me

and her vocals are sooo soft and dreamy.
 
anyway as it stands we'll be losing hoax, peace and illicit affairs. you have until the morning before we keep it moving!
