The further adventures of Jinkx Monsoon including 2026 UK Tour

I didnt bite as I cant find anyone who is free and wanting to go.

Extra glad Im going to Judy in a couple of weeks now!
I've just bought a plus one and am hoping I can convince a friend. I've got three possibles. Mr L would come if they all declined, but to be honest given that he wouldn't pay me and would probably only be there JUST BECAUSE, I'd probably rather take the hit and go on my own.

Manchester is a standing venue, weirdly, so, guess I'm not going to that! Already booked for End of the Rainbow though - excited!

It was unreserved seating when I looked the other day. When are you going to ‘End of the rainbow’? I’m Sat 16th.

Jinkx will take this to Broadway and get a Tony surely thats the plan? Wild its testing in Walthamstow!

Looking forward to seeing the reviews to End of the Rainbow in a few days time - hopefully they are good and they get some more sales for the later part of the run - if it was New York it would have been sold out pretty much immediately.

I saw cheap tickets a few times for End of the Rainbow on ticketing sites. It can't be selling that well.

I've seen Jinkx a bunch of times over the years and its never less that 100% commitment.

It's a fantastic show, we know Jinkx is a great performer, and we know she can do Judy proud. Surely it's a no brainer.

My one worry is some people going in are going to think its a comedy - I wonder if that will create a slight tension.

As long as they are not disruptive. There has been a shift in theatre audiences in recent times it seems...

Ooooh - so you reckon the reviews will shift the rest of the tickets? Does this have a future Broadway/Tony tilt vibe about it?

Press night is tomorrow - Wednesday 20th - so hopefully we will see reviews on Thursday.

Thats sort of so outrageously hateful as to come fully around to a camp flounce of a review.

Anyway, off to see it in a bit - will let you know if I stab myself in the leg. Or anybody else's leg.

Jinkx is a force of nature. Jinkx is not Judi Dench. It’s definitely good, the support are a bit am-dram. Its definitely a moment, but it may also be a bit of a dead end for them.

I definitely enjoyed it but appreciate it was a mixed bag. Jinkx I thought was great. The twinks were nice to look at, but not the best actors. The costumes were stun, but the set designer maybe should have been told to cool it on the fitted sheets.

The confusingly named Soho Theatre Walthamstow is a stunning building and I'm glad they've managed to put it to good use.

It honestly amazes me they managed to breath that kind of new life into it -20 years ago it was on its knees. Agree re the set design - I about recoiled coming back in for the second half and it was still napkin world.

So Mr Sheena organised lunch with a friend pre-show about half an hour’s tube away from the theatre. I got a bit annoyed and anxious as I felt it was cutting it fine. Sure enough, the fucking tube line closed for an hour for some reason and an Uber was going to take over an hour itself thanks to Saturday traffic meaning we’d arrive half an hour late, which is unthinkable for me- especially in FUCKING FRONT ROW SEATS. I threw my toys out of the pram, we had an absolutely massive row and just went home.

Gutted.

Ugh, nightmare. I was meeting friends for pre drinks and I lean towards early - whatapp started going off like crazy and we became aware people were scrambling for alternative routes in.

I well remember from when I lived in Walthamstow that when the tube goes down your pretty much fucked re speedy routes in and out of town.

The show was sold out - but there were a fair few empty seats clearly visible - you were certainly not alone in getting stuffed by the tube snafu.

One tip for you - if you re-book go row F - its got extra leg room and you have nobody directly in front of you. Front row looked a little low AND dangerous - someone got hit with a flying stiletto that whizzed off the stage !

That’s a very good call if you’re thinking of rebooking @Sheena

Whilst there is the thrill of being sat front row, the tiering of the stage was pretty brutal at times and we were often blocked by a giant grand piano of seeing the actors.

What a fucker Shee. Gutted for you.

I'd better check the tube situation before my Saturday matinee trip soon if they are arsing around with closures. I've not booked the train yet, but I know it's quite the schlep from Paddington across central London to the other side. According to Google maps it's an hour by taxi. Fuck knows how much that would cost if we had to rely on it.

And yes, make sure we eat close to the venue. It looks like it's on a main road, so I'm sure there will be decent enough options.

There were plenty of options and the friend who we met would have been fine getting there too. But yeah, you can't rely on a taxi on a Saturday in London, the traffic just makes it impossible to do anything.

I get so annoyed with Mr Sheena generally at organising anything as he NEVER builds contingency into things and never works stuff out. I stupidly took my eye off the ball last week and just let him get on with things and it wasn't until far too late that I realised what he'd done. I mean, he also didn't bother booking anywhere- on a sunny Saturday in Coal Drops Yard- which I found out 20 minutes before and so had to sort myself anyway.

There was an incident with a passenger - it wasn't planned works - it was all over in about 60-90 mins but at the worst possible time it seems and thus some people didn't make it.

Walthamstow really is a bit of a trek without the speedy tube.

We ate at Turtle Bay about 50 meters away - not been there before - was actually very nice and decent cheap cocktails - especially for London. Or maybe I'm just a lush and will drink anything.

Oh Hyperwoof, not Turtle Bay :(
I was pleasantly surprised I must say - and very reasonable pricing - very reasonable. It can't be tasting menus and wine flights e v e r y d a y - there's a cost of living crisis on you know! I don't want to get burnt at the stake for being caught eating ritzy doo dahs.

I loved End of the Rainbow, while also thinking this production wasn't the definitive version of the play. I was still completely swept up by it at the end though.

Jinkx is a total star. I never thought she was Judy Garland but it didn't really matter. As others have said, the other cast weren't on the same level as her but they did the job well enough and my favourite scenes were probably the ones in act two between her and the piano player.

Our performance was about half full with the upstairs section closed. I hope that was an outlier or sales pick up.

We ate at Walthamstow McDonald's beforehand if that makes you feel better

(Although I did then pass Turtle Bay and think how ghastly it looked :D)

I think it's interesting - early and late sales are good - middle sales are soft. The reviews were pretty decent but London doesn't know Jinkx in the same way that Broadway has embraced her.
