The Israel-Gaza war and wider Middle-East tensions (9 Viewers)

I could totally see Israel allowing a few strikes; absolutely playing into the victim narrative they're successfully weaving with the US
That with the well timed shooting incident.

Sorry but I just believe anything from the Israeli government anymore.

They're also being backed up by US and UK missile interceptors, so very few of these will land, though at least one missile has been caught landing on the news footage

Absolutely mindboggling that many missiles can fall and no one be hurt

Israel warns Lebanon of “destruction like Gaza” as it sends in thousands more troops

Hizbullah has retaliated, injuring 40 Israelis. America has come running to the rescue, on cue.

The video of a burning live human in a hospital for refugees is just harrowing.

How can any politician watch that and not say or do something?

Great, so it's all finished then I assume.

Not even missiles, using planes to bomb Iran this time. This isn't ending ever is it?

I mean this has been building up since the 1970s. Hizbullah kept growing bigger, deadlier, and more hostile towards Israel. It was always going to be a bloody affair unfortunately.

How long this lasts will also depend on how far Israel wants to take it. I have a strong feeling Israel isn't going to be happy with just defeating Hizbullah and Hamas and going back to the pre-war 'normal'. It's very possible that they'll try occupying or annexing Lebanese land while they're at it (like they've done in the past) because war is so expensive and because Netanyahu needs a prize to take home to help salvage whatever reputation he has. I've even read about plans for a "Greater Israel", but I'm not sure how true that is.

Hizbullah was created in 1982 in response to Israel invading Lebanon that same year. But yeah of course, since the 1970s.

The ICC really should have issued the warrants when Netanyahu was in a county that would comply with them.

Imagine walking out of Downing Street to learn that the person whose normal job is to let Larry the Cat in and out was taking you to the Hague

It’s entirely possible that Netanyahu thinks this will go the same way as the Dreyfus affair in that he is expecting to spend five years imprisoned on DEVIL’S ISLAND.
