The Knocks/Dragonette - Revelation

After One On One, which was a late highlight of 2023, The Knocks now have something in the works with Dragonette:



It sounds like three different songs... hopefully at least one of them reaches the heights of Slow Song.

Is it still Martina solo calling herself Dragonette? I wasn’t keen on the last album which was her on her own.

Speaking of Martina, I just checked Dua's Wiki entry for the Training Session single and it lists her as a co-writer on it but when you go to the whole album article her name has been wiped out entirely oh my

Pleased for Martina to hopefully get some good material again as the one woman moniker outing didn't live up to the previous form.

aw man, I thought she did nab a real co-writing credit; the "sample" is ridiculous, it all reeks of a similar Cruel Summer/Deja Vu situation

If anything, Tokyo Nights should credit M83's Midnight City.

Only three songs and an interlude are actually new but the new ones are very good, especially Let My Love Open The Door and Love Me Alive - some very CRJ vocals on the chorus for that one.

Found this a bit of a let down? The Knocks have so many bangers, this is all a bit understated.

I appreciate she is also working within the parameters of The Knocks too but Martina really has lost all semblance of the off kilter quirkiness that set Dragonette apart since taking on the moniker solo.

I think it has maybe been a gradual process process of quirks being ironed out after the first couple of albums. I agree that it was very noticeable on Twennies.

There are no wild diversions here, but I am a sucker for this kind of sound. It is a much better album than Twennies.
