There was quite a resemblance between Ellie and her mum I thought.

The finale worked really well. Joel was quite giddy and excitable in the first half of the episode before it all went south and the bodies started piling up. They managed to make it feel human rather than bang, bang and blood.
 
Cracker of a series. I did think maybe the last episode could have been a bit longer, it's like we missed out on the entire journey to get to the final hospital.

Wonder if they'll do a Game of Thrones and run ahead of the games. I suppose they probably will.
 
I was so confused by game Ellie playing TV’s Ellie’s mum. All I could hear was game Ellie’s voice and confusing the two and thinking “is this Ellie when she’s older or what?”

Was genius casting

More of the same which is no bad thing! I just love the scale and grandness of this series!

Struggled the same with Series 1 but really need to try and disengage from the game sometimes and let the series just run as it is, but saying that feels like it’s going to be a slow burn with not even getting to Part 2’s first major plot point yet :D
 
Oh I seen it on my Sky main page and just assumed it was being shoved there like Game of Thrones sometimes is. I'll try holding out to facilitate a binge, but probably won't resist long.
 
Holy fuck balls! I think that was the most watchable episode of TV I’ve ever seen. Not sure I even blinked! That was incredible!

(Also wasn’t sure about the actress cast for Abby but when it came to it she had the menace.)
 
Was that the alarm clock boy from The Gilded Age recruited by Isaac into WLF?

So many nods to the game in episode 4! The way they match the aesthetic with the game is crazy good!
 
I must admit my memory the game has faded somewhat to get the nods, but I do recognise many of the locations and storylines.
 
I haven't watched the latest (assuming there was one at the weekend) but yes it's astonishing how well they've kept to the games in terms of sets, scripts and pace etc. However, if any show could afford to stretch storylines out across more episodes/seasons it's this one. I feel in some ways it doesn't stop to let you breathe; it jumps in time from one set piece and location to the next that you don't know where you are sometimes. I know because I've played them, but I can imagine it's quite exhausting for those who have never played the games :D
The thing with the games is you spend HOURS playing in between all of the plot points, so you're able to adjust. And then when stuff happens, it hits harder.

They could easily have spent a season of maybe 6 episodes in the quarantine zone from the first game as just one example, culminating in the big escape. Plenty of material to cover there, including Ellie in the shopping mall. Similar with Henry and Sam, a short season with all that happens there and ending in their sad demise. It needn't turn into The Walking Dead, there's enough to beef it out with and we know the plot is actually going somewhere.

Obviously I'm not complaining though, I'm delighted with what we've got and the casting is perfect. It feels proper big budget, and the attack on the town was sensational. Seeing that bloater was amazing, though I'm annoyed it didn't explode like in the game :D
 
Anyway, my memories of Part 2 after the shock Joel moment are extremely sketchy, I seem to recall it being hours and hours of sometimes identikit buildings and streets to clear of infected or people. Still brilliant but a fair bit of padding.

Obviously there was the shock switch up, and what the game did so masterfully was how it allowed you to be at first dumbfounded at the Abby change, before you (well certainly me) came round to it. I was very much #teamabby by the end.

Although hang on, was Abby's motive not revealed until after spending hours with her? Whereas they've told us straight away in the show? But even then, the emotional draw to Abby only really became possible because you played hours and hours with her too, so it'll be interesting to see how the show manages to get that across in a few episodes as opposed to just allowing her to seem like the villain.
 
Another brilliant episode this week! The lead up to the last scenes and those last moments with Nora were breathtaking!
 
I assume this is being renewed for a third season. And i also assume it'll be before the next game.

Wonder if it'll go the way of Game of Thrones and just become ridiculous.

I was fine with it being a slower episode. It tied it all up nicely on the chapter of Joel and the Fireflies.

Joel and Ellie really are fucking anti-hero’s aren’t they :D

I can’t believe they have a rabid fan base. They are both awful people.

Last episode next week so is that going to be day 4 in Seattle? Was the last shot of Ellie tonight day 3?
 
The Season 2 finale seems to be getting a bit of mixed bag but I thought it was good (but I was ready for what was coming)! Some bits jumped anround and it’s shame we didn’t get the shoot out on the bridge as I loved it in the game (but probably not as immersive watching rather than playing). But some really emotional scenes and Ellie had a dressing down from Jesse! Good!

I guess Season 3 is Abby’s story and then 4 will be the third act in Santa Barbara?
