We still don't know what was said about Rita and by whom. So things haven't changed at all I'd say.
I don't want to ignore this and I have been re-reading the relevant threads and thinking about what I would do, and the honest answer is that I don't necessarily have a great answer, but I will try my best. There are two components that I'll address. Firstly my own involvement (or lack thereof) in the incident and what I would do differently in the future, be it as a mod or as a poster. In the interest of both stirring shit up AND working out where to place my floating votes, I would like to ask all of those standing for mod how they feel they would - or, if they were a mod at the time, should, if at all - have dealt with this incident in question?

When I was a mod, there was discussion about how best to help you in the mod forum when we felt things were tough for you. A few mods (me included) reached out to you via DM to check you were okay. You didn't reply to my DM. I can't comment on things since I stepped down, but certainly I know when I was a mod the intention towards you was well meaning and supportive.
Sorry this wasn't about the mod forum! This was in community forum before I could access it. I remember your message and thought I did reply to be honest, I definitely replied to someone so apologies if I forgot you. If intentions to me are still good I would like my moopy restrictions from JUNE (FIVE MONTHS AGO) removing now please. As Roisin Murphy would say, THE TIME IS NOW
You’ve been…discouraged.Everything has been slowed down to snail pace, it takes forever for me to go from one thread to another. I feel now that mods have no intention of removing it

I'm not sure I really feel the need to unleash old traumas as I have a lot of love for everyone involved. But I'd like to think I wouldn't have ignored it. My response at the time is out there. It wasn't an easy fix and sadly for the forum we lost two great posters. Just more understanding and listening really. In the interest of both stirring shit up AND working out where to place my floating votes, I would like to ask all of those standing for mod how they feel they would - or, if they were a mod at the time, should, if at all - have dealt with this incident in question?

I almost put Tr*sh on the banner yesterday. Thank god I was too lazy. Not really the person to quote. She was taken off the banner for a reason.

I think if I want to quote her I will?
It is a setting admin can use for posters. Or it was back in the day anyway.
She's a TERFWhat has Roisin Murphy done?
Don’t threaten us with a good time!Anyway if this restriction is not lifted by January 2024 I shall be leaving this site for good. No more Mr nice guy
Won't be cumming over you anymore that's for sure

We were actually just discussing this earlier. If we are getting a Q&A portion I'd love to ask our candidates how they want to deal with obvious trolls?
I do think that the 'deliberate slowdown' mode is a bit dodgy to be honest, if the staff don't want a person using the forum they should just say so (or ban them if there's cause to) rather than some weird half measure.
Yes, I think I agree. I do think it probably has merit as a short term measure, but after that it feels like it's deferring making a more difficult decision. But then perhaps it has been discussed elsewhere.I do think that the 'deliberate slowdown' mode is a bit dodgy to be honest, if the staff don't want a person using the forum they should just say so (or ban them if there's cause to) rather than some weird half measure.
It's alright, I am off!![]()
) was really starting to overwhelm the forum, but it never quite fell over the line of just being a black and white banning offence, and it became fairly clear that a number of people would have been unhappy if we'd taken that approach. The slowdown was a way to give ourselves - and everyone else - some breathing space. I do tend to agree that as a long term solution, it probably isn't the most graceful, or fair. But it does keep happening.I can only personally recommend the ignore feature.
I don't feel I have a right to demand anyone to post only the way I want them to, particularly when I do have the power to see only what I want to.
Yes, that's true. I thinking must have managed to tune it out for the most part, because I don't remember that for a long time.Again though, if it's one poster spamming ignorable nonsense that's easier. When it's two posters constantly going back and forth at each other, it risks making the forum unreadable, and that was what was happening pretty much on a weekly basis.
