The offical Moopy Eurodance EXTRAvaganza: Fri FEB 12th 9PM

Sin with Sebastian - Shut Up And Sleep With Me (1995, UK number 44)

As a 2 year old gay I remember this being advertised in Smash Hits and being QUITE CURIOUS, but wasn’t able to actually hear it until literally decades later when I looked it up on YouTube :D
How times have CHANGED! (See also: No Access by HONDY, which was a Smash Hits! Single of the week, and took me literally 20 years from reading about it until I heard it :D)

It was a toss up between Sebastian and an E-Rotic track for this TRASH SECTION SLOT, but Sebastian won out on the basis of being a FULLY FORMED CONCEPT :disco:

I don't know why I know Shut Up and Sleep With Me but I do and I listen to it at least once a week. Bizarre and :disco: and honestly relatable

Trey D - Higher And Higher (DNC)

I don’t know anything about this, but it was suggested by @Krust and it’s VERY FUN, so enjoy all!
It’s basically every Eurodance song ever (especially Rhythm Is A Dancer) made SMASHED TOGETHER :D

I'm still agog at just how much some of these tracks ripped each other off, even down to the COLOUR PALETTE of the videos.

Culture Beat - Mr Vain (1993, UK number 1)

I couldn’t not include this! One of the defining tracks of Eurodance, and a WORLDWIDE SMASH! I still have no idea what the song is all about :D
To my ears it remains Culture Beat’s best song, and the video has MORE than a whiff of an ORGY about it.

This is another that had a SLOW CRAWL up the UK charts, originally charting top 30 before it snatched the number 1. It’s be re-released multiple times since, and I think it even had further success in it’s RECALL version.

"Mr. Vain" - has that version of the song in the video ever been released properly? The actual radio edit is inferior - same as with Dr. Alban's "it's my life" and Masterboy's "feel the heat of the night"

This was a question on Popmaster earlier this week. I had the correct answer before they actually played the clip.

I didn't understand it lyrically as a child, and I STILL DON'T now!

Imagine going clubbing and this is the BIG SONG of the evening! The jealousy I feel for those who had that is EXTREME!
I was a student years after this came out and it could still pack a dancefloor. When it was out and it was everywhere, it felt like overkill. Looking back, you realise how fucking lucky we were to have this music in the mainstream.

It's My Life got dropped LAST MINUTE from tonight as it felt TOO FAMILAR! Perhaps I should have left it in and dropped that DREAMS song! :eyes:
